Adjustable Hitch for 1972 Winnebago Brave with Modified Frame

Question:

Im looking for a class 5 hitch with 2inch receiver for my Winnebago. There is no ion and the specs are hard to find. The Frame rails C-channel outside to outside at the rear are 34 inches apart, and are 1.75 wide at the rear section. Welded extension on the original Dodge chassis frame rails. This is built on a Dodge M-300 Chassis, which is not a ion.... And nothing I can find that gives actual dimensions of the hitch width except in some of your help responses. The existing hitch is something created by a previous owner and it is bending and cracked in two spots. I plan to use it for a motorcycle hitch hauler now, but have and will tow trailers also. No real preference for brands, but the Curt ones look good. I do need it soon however, so in-stock is critical. I will be reinforcing the frame at a later date, but currently have no access to a welder. Thanks

I recommend going with an adjustable hitch receiver for your Winnebago. The Draw-Tite Multi-Fit Motorhome Trailer Hitch item # 5350 is adjustable from 24" - 46" wide and will fit the spacing on your frame. This is a 2" hitch receiver that has a maximum towing weight of 5000 lbs and 6000 lbs with weight distribution system. It also has a 500 lbs tongue weight capacity which can be increased to 750 lbs. Your vehicles frame has been modified and adapted so it is difficult to find a hitch receiver that will fit and give you a class 5 towing capacity. This is a general application product, you should check with your vehicles owners manual to insure a structurally safe location for attachment and towing capacity isn't being exceeded.

The Curt class 5 hitch receiver item # C15300 you are referencing will not fit your Winnebago. The dimensions you have given me do not match up with the fit guide information we have for a 1972 Dodge M-300 chassis. The Curt hitch receiver has a 36 inch bolt to bolt spacing and is way too big for your frame. I have attached a picture with the measurements that would need to match up to your frame rails.
