Features to know about

Confident Driving on Snow and Ice: Diamond Pattern Keeps Constant Grip

When the road gets slick, the diamond pattern on these Konig Tire Chains keeps consistent traction so you don’t lose control. The pattern spreads the grip across more of the tire surface, which helps you climb grades, handle turns, and keep your vehicle steady on both snow and light ice. The square links dig in firmly for grip, but because they’re small and evenly spaced, you’ll get a smoother, less bumpy ride than with old-school ladder chains.

Tight Traction Without the Hassle: Built-In Assisted Tensioning

Forget about tensioning tools or losing parts in the snow. These chains tighten up fast with built-in assisted tensioners—just hook the chains in place and pull the tensioners until they’re snug. The tensioners automatically center and stay tight, so you can get back on the road faster and with confidence that everything is secure.

Built for Modern Vehicles: Class S Compatible Design

If you’ve ever struggled to find chains that clear tight wheel wells, these solve that problem. They meet SAE Class S standards, which means they’re designed for vehicles with limited clearance. With an internal clearance requirement of only 1/2 inch, they provide reliable traction without rubbing or interfering with your wheel components.

Tough Enough for Repeated Winter Use: Manganese Nickel Alloy Steel Construction

Winter driving is rough on gear, but these chains are built to handle it. The manganese nickel alloy steel resists corrosion and wear, so they hold up through multiple seasons of snow and ice. The powder-coated side chain even helps protect your wheel rims from scuffs while adding another layer of durability.

Compact and Ready for the Next Storm: Lightweight and Easy to Store

You don’t have to sacrifice space or convenience. Each pair fits tires from 13" to 17" and comes packed in a durable nylon storage bag that tucks neatly into your trunk. They’re lightweight, easy to handle, and always ready for those days when the weather turns fast.

Confirming Your Fit

If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer.

We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you won't be stuck out in the cold later with snow chains that don't fit.

You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. These chains can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.

by:

Easy to use,and work great. My Miata easily went past 4WD SUVs in our snowstorms last year.

by:

Durable, easy to put on and put away. Much better than anything offered at the auto parts store in the neighborhood. Very satisfied.

by:

It shipped way ahead of schedule, and I was very satisfied with that. The instructions could have been better on how to assemble the chains. It took me a while to get them on.

by:

Got here quickly whereas [online] was gonna take another week or two.. thanks etrailer!

by:

Good price and these fit my Toyota Prius which has very little room in the wheel well.

by:

I haven't had the chance to use it yet--thank God!--but I have taken it out of the container and did "dry runs" and it does become easier with use. I have not taken pictures.

by:

These chains really worked on slicked down snow and ice! Would definitely recommend if you're not going to get winter tires.

by:

Quick shipping and good product!

by:

The service was outstanding, she helped me select the proper tire chains

by:

I havent tried the product yet. Its a xmas gift. However the ordering process was easy mostly because etrailer was very attentive to my needs. They answered my calls and shipped rapidly with great follow up.

by:

Have not tried to put the chains on yet or drive with them on. But the shipping speed was EXCELLENT !!! Was less than 48 hours.

by:

After a couple installs, I'm able to get these chains on/off my Prius in just a few minutes. I live at the top a steep gravel road in the mountains and on snowy/icy days, my car does better than any other 4x4 in the neighborhood.

by:

I don't think i'm going to have to worry about getting stuck in the snow anymore. These chains are nothing like the old timey ones my dad and father in-law had to play around with. Thanks for the fast service.

by:

It's only October in New York. It's a little early to review the effectiveness of the snow chains. They look good, come in a useful compact hard plastic case, and I expect them to keep my car safe this winter, and many other winters. Thank you.

by:

Snow tire chains look great.
But storage
hard case was damaged with broken chips of plastic. Maybe better shipping packaging is required.

I bought these same brand chains two years ago for my Corolla. These chains have worked extremely good for me on the steep icy highway during a really heavy snow storm. Other cars with the typical cable chains were sliding all over the place, but our car made it through without sliding. I was more worried about the other cars sliding into me, than about my car making it through. The highway was eventually closed down about 5-10 minutes after us getting through. For light snow or almost bare pavement with patches of snow these chains are sort of over kill. I have used them maybe 10 to 15 times but on my last trip one of the chains broke. I believe the ball broke off from the inside hook of the chain. I would prefer if the inner attachment was more like a hook (like they typically use on ladder chains) which I think would be more robust. I have had a number of balls breaking off on my ladder type chains, so to me it seems like that is the weak link in this chain design. Installation is pretty easy but that rubber hook at the end is also hard to install in the cold. Also getting the chains off after that terrible snow storm was difficult. The inner ball/hook was completely frozen together. So be sure to have something in the car to chip the ice away if needed. On warmer, less severe days it isn't a problem. Overall they are a great chain to carry with me for those ski trips.

We have not actually used the Konig tire chains we purchased (due to the sudden cancellation of our snow trip), but we were very impressed by the customer service folks at etrailer.com. It was a rush order, and delivery was smooth and timely. Also, the product information on the website was very helpful.

by:

No snow yet, but product appears to be GREAT as are all products I've purchased from e trailer. Especially is the customer service received from Chris W.

Traded them in on Thule for my new VW Golf Sport Wagon. Have not used the new ones yet either. Great insurance though!

by:

I bought these chains for emergency purposes to prepare for a trip from North Dakota to Washington in late November. I haven't had to use them yet so can only comment on the product purchase, service, and price. The service was good, they were delivered quickly and on the date they estimated. I did a lot of research before purchasing these for my low wheel well clearance 2010 Prius. They were a nice compromise between the inexpensive and expensive ones. In addition to the S rating for low wheel well clearance, the link shape are supposed to have a smoother ride, there is some assistance with installation, and reviews were selling points. Note that the kneeling pad and gloves are both thinner plastic. Not exactly what I expected but better than nothing. They came in a nice easy carrying case.

I had never heard of ETrailer before I began searching for the Konig snow chains that I wanted. Lower price on a site worries me and usually means you won’t get your order in time or possibly ever. The morning after I order I got an email updating me that the MFG had delayed their order. No big deal because I’m not in a hurry but I replied to the email for the heck of it. I was pleasantly surprised that a person replied to my reply who apologized again that there would be a delay. I continued to get updates from real people daily and throughout the packing and shipping of my chains. I’m by nature suspicious and don't trust a lot of online stores. For instance, the same night that I ordered from ETrailer I ordered Xmas gift from Wilson sports. I could never checked the status of my shipment on their site and when I asked for the status of my shipment I got an automated reply. I received my snow chains and am still waiting for my football and receiver gloves. I have no idea when they’ll show up. ETrailer is run the way a company should be run. I will always search ETrailer to see if they have anything that I need and have already told all of my friends about this company. Thank you ETrailer employees George J., Justin W. and all of employees that handled my order and got my order to me within 10 calendar days. Awesome service!

Hi.......Just a follow up question on your purchase....Have you used them and did you buy just a pair for the front end...Thanks....Ray

by:

Ordered these chains from etrailer.com for my 2007 Prius. First order from this company. Got a heads up call from Preston at etrailer saying there might be delay in shipping ( there wasn’t). Then followed up with call saying they had shipped. Company is obviously ‘customer satisfaction’ focused. Based on my experience with this one order from etrailer I would highly recommend it. Haven’t had to use the chains yet but I know they are quality (Thule) and will work.

  • Tire Chains For 2017 Toyota Corolla & Should They be on 2 or 4 Tires
I googled the owners manual for a 2017 Toyota Corolla and it said that snow tire chains should be on the front two tires only and not the rear tires, so you just need two. • Tire Chains for 2003 Jeep Liberty 4WD
With 17 inch wheels, your Liberty most likely has P235/65R-17 tires on it. If that is indeed the case, the Thule Snow Chain you referenced will be too small to fit your tires. I would recommend the Thule Standard Snow Chain, part # TH01571247. On a 4WD vehicle, you can use chains on all four wheels unless the owners manual prohibits it.
