For my 2021 Ford Ranger, comparing the Curt trailer hitch to the etrailer, is there an advantage of one over the other?

When comparing the etrailer and Curt hitch options for the 2021 Ford Ranger, you will find that they are very similarly constructed, install in the same way and have very little differences in dimensions and rated towing capacities. It is possible to have up to a 7,500 lb. tow rating if you have the factory equipped tow package, code 53R. All other configurations will be rated to a minimum of 3,500 lb. The vehicle specific owner's manual should always be consulted to understand what the maximum towing weight is for your specific vehicle.

Each option, once installed, allows for proper use without interfering with the spare tire. Each are Class III hitches with a 2" receiver and high grade powder coating to help prevent corrosion. The etrailer hitch has a matte black finish and the Curt hitch has a glossy black finish. They both have lifetime warranties.

You would need to add a wiring mounting bracket such as the Curt Mounting Bracket for 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector, # C42CR or my preferred choice if you are going to install 7-way wire harness, the Curt Easy Mount Bracket for 4- or 5-Way Flat and 6- or 7-Way Trailer Connectors for 2" Hitch, # C58000.
