Simple color coded wiring should have been easy installation, right !
Wired up first time by color, nothing worked. Had to cut it off start again, appears the plug did not line up with my “ color coded “ connection’s. So…..pull out the voltmeter and do a continuity test on all the circuits. Figured out what wires go where, temporarily wired them up and everything worked as expected. Soldered & shrink wrapped all connections.
Love the soft cord on this Curt 7 way plug that’s only good thing I can say.
Most other companies would have sent a replacement cord and not asked for a return of the one that wasn’t working but etrailer did.

Thank you !

As you can see in the article I've linked for you, there are two different wire color codes.

The product looks good. I will have to rewire the plug because it’s a RV. I needed SAE but they don’t carry it. And besides USPS sending the package all over eastern side of the country. Everything is good.

Everything about it is as advertised, wired it up and everything works as it should hopefully in 6 months when weather turns cold again it remains flexible as advertised.

I had to change the wiring terminations due to this plug and cord being different from both my trucks, but after changing wiring connections to match my truck's plug receptacle's, all new trailer lighting worked perfectly

My flatbed trailer came with one of these cables. It is of excellent quality, I am replacing the cable on our camp trailer with this one.

  • Solution For 7-Way Cord That Becomes Rigin In The Cold Weather
Hey Bob, great question. It was about 7 degrees here in Missouri this morning, so I can relate to the cold. I do have a good solution for this too. What I would do is replace your current 7-way cord with the Curt Cold Weather 7-Way RV Style Connector # C23RJ. This cord is made from a flexible thermoplastic which will not become rigid in the extreme cold. It feels a bit more like soft rubber than hard plastic, even in temps as low as 40 below. Hopefully it never gets that cold here though lol.

  • What Wire Gauge Does The Curt Cold Weather 7-Way RV Style Connector # C23RJ Use?
Hey Robert, thanks for reaching out. The Curt Cold Weather 7-Way RV Style Connector # C23RJ uses a combination of 14-gauge and 10-gauge wire. The black 12V power wire and white ground wire are 10 gauge, while the brown, red, blue, green, and yellow circuits are 14 gauge. The heavier 10-gauge wires are there for the main power and ground circuits since those carry the highest current loads, especially for battery charging and brake systems. The rest of the lighting and signal circuits use...
