Features to know about

Reliable Charging Where Older RV Converters Fall Short

Closed unit

Many RV owners upgrade their power center because the factory converter never charged batteries the way it should. Slow recovery times and batteries that never quite reach full are common signs. The WFCO Power Center is designed to fix that by using charging profiles matched to your battery type. Lead-acid batteries receive true 3-stage charging with higher voltage during bulk charging, then step down to normal, and trickle/float stages as they recover. Lithium batteries follow a simpler two-stage process designed for faster, more consistent charging. The result is quicker recharge times and less day-to-day strain on your batteries, helping them last longer and perform more reliably.

Does This Power Center Automatically Detect Lithium Batteries?

Upgrading to lithium batteries is usually about better performance and long-term value, not extra complexity. This power center uses WFCO's Auto-Detect technology to recognize lithium or lead-acid batteries and apply the correct charging profile automatically. There are no switches to set and no settings to guess at. Once installed, it charges your batteries the way they are designed to be charged, helping you get the faster recovery, longer service life, and consistent performance that make lithium a worthwhile upgrade for your RV.

One Tidy AC/DC Power Center for Your RV

Open door

Instead of juggling separate components, the WFCO Power Center combines your AC breaker panel, DC fuse block, and converter into one compact unit. This helps keep wiring organized and reduces clutter in tight RV compartments. With six AC circuits and six DC circuits, it provides capacity for everyday RV essentials like outlets, lighting, appliances, and onboard electronics. The power center accepts standard residential breakers and automotive fuses (not included). You can check the product manual for recommended brands and styles, which are easy to find and purchase from most hardware or RV stores.

What Safety Protections Does This RV Power Center Have?

Electrical upgrades only bring peace of mind if they operate safely day after day. This power center is built with protections against overheating, over-current conditions, and reverse polarity connections, so a wiring mistake or heavy load doesn't turn into a bigger problem. LED indicator lights provide quick visual feedback to help identify power and fault conditions, making it easier to spot issues during troubleshooting. The cooling fan is designed to pull air in and exhaust it out the front of the unit, which helps move heat away from the components instead of letting it build up behind the panel. That matters in tight RV compartments where airflow is limited. If operating limits are ever exceeded, the system can shut itself down to protect the electronics. It's built-in safety that's reassuring when you're upgrading battery types or replacing an older converter that didn't manage heat nearly as well.

Is This a Direct Replacement for My RV Power Center?

Rear with wires

This WF-8735-AD is designed to replace many factory-installed WFCO 35-amp power centers, which is why it fits so well in common RV power center locations. It can also be used as a replacement for other brands with similar layouts and capacity. Because every RV is a little different, it's still important to verify cutout dimensions and wiring before installing. Some applications may require minor adjustments depending on the original layout. If you'd rather leave the job to a professional you can use etrailer's installer locator to find a qualified shop near you and get help with installation.

Direct replacement/upgrade to what i had. E-trailer is always tops.

by:

Easy to install. Very little modification to the installation opening. Installed in an Aliner Columbia. Works great!

by:

It was a perfect match to my old one! Just plug and play couldn't have been easier

by:

A drop-in replacement for the original. The new converter auto detects the battery type and adapts the charging protocol. Now, my 190AH LiFePo battery fully charges.

by:

Does the job. Installation takes some time, but this is a direct replacement for the WF-8735 (non-lithium), so it's just a matter of disconnecting/reconnecting wires. Same exact size too, so it screws into the same holes. Only negative is this one has a small green light that always stays on, so if your converter is in a very visible location, it may annoy you at night.

by:

Item arrived quickly and in good shape. Other than having to slightly increase the mounting location it installed easily and works great. I like how the cooling fan only runs when it's needed and not constantly like the old unit.

by:

The product was a replacement and upgrade and worked perfectly. Siobhan did an excellent job helping me navigate the choices and got the converter delivered to me on time for me to install before my trip. Frosty beverages of choice for her! Thank you!!

by:

It was plugged and play, works great so far.

  • Can Older WFCO Converter Charge Lithium Batteries Without Lithium Compatibility
Hi Ric; using a converter that is not rated for lithium is not recommended. Your existing WFCO converter won't be able to fully charger a battery like # 34282738, it could overheat, and might trip the BMS which would shut the battery down until it resets. It could also damage the actual battery which I don't think you want on a new battery. Assuming your solar controller is lithium compatible that will work to keep the battery charged until you get a new converter. However, with a single...

  • Can RV 15 Amp Converter be Upgraded to 35 Amp
Hey William, you can upgrade to a 35 amp panel/converter like with the WFCO part # WF96FR (we don't have any 30 amp options) but you should note that when doing this you have to also upgrade all of the wiring that runs to and from the converter as it would need to be able to withstand over twice as much current as what you have now.

Hey Viki, so you would want a new converter that has a lithium charging profile as lithium batteries require a very specific voltage to charge like it sounds like you are aware of. The best option we have would be the WFCO part # WF96FR which is rated for 35 amps, has a lithium profile, and it has an auto detect feature that allows it to know exactly what battery type you have. Hey Suzanne, the version of the 8735 converter you have does not have a Lithium mode so it would not charge the batteries you have. • Replacement RV Power Converter for WFCO8735
Hey Steve, the PowerMax RV Power Center # PM67VR that you referenced is actually going to be rated 25 amps higher than what you have now. It's titled in a confusing way as it says its 30 amp but it's actually a 55 amp output converter. You'd want to go with something that more closely matches the amperage you have now like with the WFCO part # WF96FR which is rated for 35 amps. While going with a higher amperage rating is possible the issue is that the wiring you have now wouldn't be able...

Hey Justin! Which WFCO model do you have in your 2013 Rockwood A122? More than likely it is a WFCO 8700 series, probably the WF-8735 if I had to guess. Assuming that is correct, the WFCO Auto Detect RV Converter and AC/DC Distribution Panel # WF96FR (WF-8735-AD) is the correct replacement. This fits in the exact same space as the standard 8735 so you won't have to modify the cutout. The Auto Detect will identify the lithium battery for the appropriate charging profile. • Best Replacement For American Power Converter CS300XL
Hello Hector, thanks for reaching out. That American CS300XL is an older unit that has been discontinued for quite some time. We do have an option for replacing it, but the best replacement really depends on whether your CS300XL is just a converter section or a full power center, but in most cases the WFCO units are the go-to upgrade because they’re way more reliable and have modern smart charging. The CS300XL is basically the equivalent of a modern 35 amp unit so to replace that I recommend...
