The BioLite BaseCharge 1500+ is the kind of power station I’d bring when I’m heading out with a bigger group for a longer trip — like if we’re camping off-grid for a few days and someone’s definitely bringing an air mattress or charging a bunch of gear. It’s a 1,500+ watt capacity system, but surprisingly easy to carry for its size I’ve used heavier units where I needed help moving them, but this one, at about 26.5 pounds, has solid handles that make it feel way more manageable. It also looks really sleek and modern, which is something I appreciate when I’m already packing a bunch of other gear.

What really stood out to me was the variety of ports and how thought-out the layout is. You've got AC, DC, USB-A, USB-C, a 100W PD port, and wireless charging for your phone. I tried the wireless charging up top it only fits one phone at a time, but it's super convenient if you're trying to free up space in your USB ports. The display is bright and easy to read, even in studio lighting, and it gives you all the info you need: time to empty, battery percent, input/output power, and more. Whether I was plugging it into the wall, using a USB-C charger, or testing it with a solar panel and MC4 adapter, everything just worked. If you're like me and love being prepared but also want something that doesn’t feel like a chore to use or carry this is a solid choice for your off-grid adventures.

My intent was to run a tiny crockpot to warm soup or a kettle to warm water for coffee pour-overs or tea. Both pulled too much power for this product, so it kept kicking off. It did work well to run the air mattress pump and charge phones. The top surface is big enough to set multiple iPhones on, but it will only charge the one that's positioned in the center of that surface, so that was disappointing. We had extra cables though, so everyone at my site was able to keep their phones charged. Had I taken my camera with me, it would have been wonderful for keeping those batteries charged.

It was rainy and chilly the weekend we used this, and I'd brought an extra large heating pad to throw across the bed under our sheets. The Biolite was fantastic for powering that! We warmed the sheets before we went to bed, and the pad has a 90-minute timer on it, so it stayed warm as we went to sleep.

I like that you can easily see the power remaining and the watts it's pulling. My biggest lesson learned is to make sure to check the wattage of the devices you want to power and make sure they'll work with this before you pack them along. This unit is probably going to be fine for phones over a 2-day weekend, but if you plan to use it for anything else, you really need a source of power to charge it up, or go with a larger unit. We did borrow the Biolite Solar Panel BL57ZR but with the rain it was useless. If it weren't cloudy and raining, the portable power panel would have helped repower the unit.

Honestly, it would probably be fantastic for charging the Biolite headlamps we carry too. I wish I'd thought of all of these things when I went to the beach in late May. We like to go crabbing and play music, and such. The basecamp would have let us hang on the beach a little longer before we needed to juice up our phones.

The only suggestion I have for improvement is to make that Q-charge feature cover the entire surface. Anything else that I didn't love was my own fault.

The BioLite BaseCharge 600+ has become my go-to for weekend camping trips and solo adventures, especially when I’m out in my rooftop tent. It’s compact and lightweight enough that I can lift it up into the tent on my own—which isn’t always the case with bigger units—and it’s just the right size for charging phones, lights, my camera gear, and even inflating a mattress when friends tag along. I love that it has modern ports, including USB-C input/output and wireless charging right on top. For a trip where you don’t need massive capacity, it really hits that sweet spot between power and portability.

What also stood out for me is how intuitive everything feels. The screen shows battery percentage, input/output watts, and hours until empty, which is super helpful when I’m planning out how long my gear will last overnight. I’ve used it with an AC wall charger, and even tried it with a 100-watt solar panel. In good sun, it takes about five hours to get to 80%, which works great when I’m parked during the day.

It has that classic BioLite polish—sleek, but rugged enough to get jostled around at camp. If you’re going on a weekend rock climbing trip like I often do and don’t need a ton of capacity, this is the one I’d throw in the car every time. But if you’re planning to be off-grid for a full week or more, you might want to look at the BaseCharge 1500+ instead.

I took the BioLite BaseCharge 600+ on a floating trip with some friends in Steelville, MO, where we didn’t have many options for an electrical hookup and I’m so glad I brought it. It didn’t take up much space in the car, was super easy to carry, and turned out to be one of the best decisions I made for the trip. I had two phones plugged in plus a portable fan, and the unit powered all of them for over eight hours and still had 50% battery left. The charge time was quicker than I expected, too.

We’re still getting good use out of it even after that trip. Right now, we keep it in our Cushman utility truck—affectionately called “Bumble Bee,” the little yellow truck we cruise around in. Since the truck doesn’t have A/C or much airflow, I brought a small fan and mister and plugged it right into the USB port on the BaseCharge. It gives us just enough breeze to stay cool while riding around in this hot Missouri weather. My boyfriend and I also toss it on our golf cart to keep our phones charged and run a fan while cruising around Wentzville. It’s turned into one of those "grab-it-every-time-you-leave" kind of products.

I LOVED the basecharge would give 5 stars hands down. it was super easy to use, and still had plenty of charge after using it for 2 days straight. and it had enough power and plugs for more than one person to use it.

I was a fan of biolite stuff after taking the classes so i was super excited to try it out. It was pretty heavy duty it wasn't like the cheap chargers you see on the market currently I loved that multiple people could charge on it, the only improvement would be a carrying case for travel.

We went camping so it allowed us to charge things we needed to be comfortable. would definitely use again.

This is for anyone who likes the off grid feeling but also enjoys indoor plumbing or needs to contact their kids.

  • Can BioLite BaseCharge 600w Power Bank Be Used To Power Pellet Grill While Camping?
Mark, most small pellet grills pull about 300–400 watts while running, and the 600w BioLite power bank # BL23ZR can handle that load since it’s rated for 600W continuous with 1000W surge. You’ll get several hours of cooking time per charge, especially if you’re just firing it up for meals and not keeping it on all day. What size grill are you using? That’ll help dial in the exact numbers based on the wattage of it.

  • Can I Connect Renogy 200W Solar Panels To BioLite BaseCharge Power Stations?
Yes, Liam, both BaseCharge models (600w # BL23ZR and 1500w # BL83ZR are compatible with standard 12V solar panels. You’ll just need BioLite’s MC4-to-HPP adapter cable # BL49ZR to connect your Renogy panels. The 600+ accepts up to 200W solar input, while the 1500+ can take up to 400W for faster recharging. Your 200W setup will work great for either. BioLite does have their own 100W solar kit # BL97ZR if you ended up going this route instead. Do you plan to use this on a camping trip or what?

  • How Fast Does BioLite Portable Power Station 1500+ and 600+ Take To Charge?
With the included AC wall charger plus a 100W USB-C PD input running together, you can get the BioLite BaseCharge Power Station 1500+ # BL83ZR to 80% in about 3 hours. That’s impressive for a unit of this size. The 600w+ # BL23ZR is even faster, about 2.5 hours with the same dual-input method. If you add solar into the mix, you can keep them topped off indefinitely when the sun’s cooperating. What do you plan to use these for? Off-Grid camping or something like that?

  • Can BioLite BaseCharge Power Station Run A Portable AC Unit?
Debbie, that’s where we have to be cautious. Portable AC units draw a lot, often 1000–1500 watts running, with a higher surge to start. The 1500+ power station from BioLite # BL83ZR has a 1200W continuous rating with 2400W surge, and BioLite says it can run a portable AC for about 1.2 hours. The 100w Solar Kit # BL97ZR could extend that a bit throughout the day and replenish some of that charge so you can hopefully get a little more run time. The 600w # BL23ZR definitely wouldn’t keep up...

  • Shelf Life BioLIte BaseCharge - How Long Can I Store Power Station Without Using It?
Karen, both the BaseCharge Power Station 600+ # BL23ZR and 1500+ # BL83ZR have a long shelf life, about 36 months, but BioLite recommends recharging every 6 months to keep the lithium battery healthy. Store it in a cool, dry place, and you’ll be ready for the next storm season. Do you think you'll have any other uses for it aside from emergency use? You could always use it when outdoors or traveling.

  • Portable Power Bank Station For Work Site As Mobile Contractor Using Circular Saw And Charging Tools
Steve, the 1500+ power station # BL83ZR is the safer bet here. Power tools often have high startup surges, and the 1500+’s 2400W surge rating handles that better than the 600+’s # BL23ZR 1000W limit. You’ll also appreciate the larger battery capacity for running multiple tools and chargers throughout the day without stopping to recharge. What specific saw and chargers are you running? We can help calculate exactly how long the 1500+ will keep them going between charges. According to BioLite,...

  • If BioLite BaseCharge Power Station Freezes, Is There A RESET Button?
Yes, press and hold the DISPLAY button for 10 seconds to reset. This works on both the 600+ # BL23ZR and 1500+ # BL83ZR. It’s rare to need it, but handy to know. Do you want me to send you a quick reference for all the error codes and what they mean? That way you’ll be ready if anything pops up.

  • Can I Chain Two BioLite BaseCharge Power Stations Together For More Battery Capacity?
BioLite doesn’t recommend chaining BaseCharge units together, Paul. If you need more capacity, it’s better to step up to the 1500w+ # BL83ZR from the 600w+ # BL23ZR or supplement with additional solar/battery systems. BioLite makes a 100w solar panel kit # BL97ZR that would work great to keep either of the power stations topped off throughout the day. What’s your ideal run time between charges? That’ll help us figure out if a larger unit or a solar add-on makes more sense for your setup.

  • Can I Wirelessly Charge Phone While Charging Laptop From BaseCharge 600w Portable Power Station?
You sure can, Jared. Both the 600+ # BL23ZR and 1500+ # BL83ZR can run multiple outputs at once, including the wireless charging pad and AC outlets. Just keep in mind the total wattage draw so you don’t exceed the unit’s continuous output rating 600W for the 600+, 1200W for the 1500+. Wireless charging is capped at 10W, so it barely dents your available power. I added some photos where BioLite estimates the ouput in minutes/hours for specific charges and applications. I also threw in...

  • Off-Grid Portable Power Station With Lihtium Battery To Power CPAP Machine For A Weekend
Absolutely, Sara. A typical CPAP draws 30–60 watts, so the 1500+ # BL83ZR with its 1521 Wh capacity can run it for 20–40 hours depending on your pressure settings and if you’re using the humidifier (BioLite says estimate is 31 hours of CPAP use). That’s multiple nights without recharging, which would be perfect for camping or off grid trips. You can also pair it with solar kit # BL97ZR to top off during the day. The 600+ # BL23ZR can handle a night or two as well, but you’ll have more...

  • Can BaseCharge Portable Power Station 600W & 1500W Operate In Freezing Winter Conditions?
Alex, both power station units # BL23ZR # BL83ZR operate best between 30°F and 100°F. Below 30°F, capacity drops, and they’ll display a “cold” icon. Keeping them insulated while in use helps in cold weather, but avoid blocking the ventilation grills. It will still operate under freezing temps, just reduced capacity until the unit senses the temperature is above 30F, then it'll switch back to full capacity. This is standard for most lithium batteries on the market, not just BioLite Power...

  • Which BioLite Portable Power Station Is Best For Tailgating And Camping With Electric Cooler?
Jake, for your setup, the BaseCharge 600+ # BL23ZR would probably be plenty. It’ll give you around 15 hours of run time for a small electric cooler and still have room for dozens of phone and speaker charges. If you ever think you might add power-hungry gear like an induction cooktop or a bigger fridge, that’s when the 1500+ # BL83ZR becomes worth it. It’s heavier but can run larger loads much longer. Either way, both are quiet, fume-free, and recharge quickly from wall, car, or solar....

  • Can BioLite BaseCharge Power Station Be Charged With Car 12v Cigarette Outlet Or Solar?
Yes, Ben, you can charge it from your vehicle using the BioLite 12V charging cable # BL59ZR or another compatible cable. The 600+ # BL23ZR will take longer than wall charging (about 6–8 hours from 12V), so topping it off while you’re on the road works great. Same applies to the 1500w # BL83ZR, just expect a longer full-charge time because of its larger capacity. You can also use solar panels to charge it like with the BioLite Portable 100-Watt Solar Panel # BL97ZR. If using another type...
