Note: Tie-down straps must be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL). The weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined WLL of the straps being used. For example, if you are using straps with a WLL of 500 lbs each to tie down a load weighing 1,000 lbs, then you need at least 2 straps to safely secure that load. It is recommended that you always use straps in pairs.

Today we're going to be taking a look at part number 58506. This is the Erickson Trailer Cargo Control, trailer axle strap with the attachment rings. This unit is going to be used to tie down a vehicle to the bed of a trailer. The axle strap is going to loop around the axle of the vehicle. The attachment points are all lined up. That way you can safely and effectively attach a ratchet strap hook and then tighten it down to secure the vehicle to the trailer bed. Now the strap itself is going to give us an overall width, from edge to edge, of the strap of right at 2 inches. It's going to give us a strap length of 24 inches.
If we take a measurement of the overall length from the edge of the attachment point to the same point on the other side, it's going to measure about 27-1/2 inches. It's going to offer a maximum capacity of 5,000 pounds with a safe working load limit of 1,650 pounds. It's made from a durable polyester material. Here at the attachment rings, it's doubled over. It is stitched with a heavy duty stitching. It is going to ensure strength and durability. The attachments are going to be made from a steel construction. It's going to give us a diameter of 3/8 of an inch. If we take a look at the opening that we have inside those attachment points, measuring this direction, it's going to be right at 2 inches.
