August 2029 I went to start my car a heard this horrible metal grinding noise. It too me four hours to figure out my Catalytic converter was stolen. Not having insurance coverage for a new one, I checked online for a replacement. The cost of this was 1/5 the cost for a full replacement. My girlfriend and I installed it in less than 20 minutes. The accompanying video was appreciated and helpful to watch. I also bought an O2 sensor and package of two spring bolts. Turned out the spring bolts had dropped strait below where they were removed and caught on a shield below. I went ahead and used the new spring bolts. Thank you etrailer for this product.

Part was exactly as it should be. Video instructions were very accurate. Half an hour to get the car off the floor. Half an hour to remove the old part. 3 days to get the 'might be needed and did need' exhaust gasket. Half an hour to convince the gasket it wanted to go on. Half an hour to install the catalytic converter. 15 minutes to get the car back on the floor. One day of driving for the computer to reset the engine light. Perfect.

Set up: MagnaFlow Ceramic Catalytic Converter on a 2007 Toyota Prius

Today on our 2007 Toyota Prius, we'll be installing the MagnaFlow Ceramic Catalytic Converter Direct Fit, part number MF49752. Now to begin our install, we'll first locate the catalytic converters and the attachment points. We have several. We have an O2 sensor that will have to be removed. We'll have to cut our pipe here behind the second catalytic converter and we'll have to disconnect it from the manifold. At the manifold, it's secured with two spring bolts, one on each side.

• I do see on the page you referred to that the CARB (California Air Resources Board) requirements for aftermarket catalytic converters don't apply to vehicles older than 5 years. It seems to allow any aftermarket converter on older vehicles on which the OE emission warranty has expired. It would be more difficult to install this item lying on the ground than with a lift so I think I would do the same thing and have a shop install it.
