This is a rooftop-mounted cargo box and we're gonna take a look at how it fits and where you should install this on your 2021 Nissan Murano. If you need some extra cargo space, a lot of people like to go with a rooftop cargo box because it's an enclosed carrier that gives you that extra space, but helps protect whatever you're storing. On the Murano, if you have this fully loaded with people, having your items up top is very helpful. The SkyBox NX 16 is one of my favorite rooftop cargo boxes because of its versatility to carry around a lot of types of things.

Hi, everyone, Aidan here at etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at this Flint Hill Goods Hitch-Mounted Cargo Carrier and seeing how it fits on the back of our 2022 Nissan Murano. Now, it's gonna be a bit more of a unique hitch-mounted carrier, because it's sort of like a tray, very short sidewalls, but still a good amount of workable space on all the sides here. Now, there are gonna be some sidewalls, so inside dimensions front to back is gonna be 21 inches, and from side to side here, we're gonna be working with 48 inches. So with those sidewalls, you can use them to box some things in, but if you've got maybe some duffle bags, some softer items that need to overhang just a little bit, I think you'll be able to with this, so long as it's properly strapped down. For strapping things down, you can go around any of these main slats, or there's gonna be four holes in each of the corners where you can maybe get an S-hook run to or maybe a bungee.

Now, this is gonna be the larger option available from Flint Hill Goods. Coming in at 20 1/2 inches deep, and as far as the width goes, 50, or sorry, 58 1/4 of an inch wide, it's gonna be more than large enough to carry all the stuff you might need when you're going on a trip or maybe going to the hardware store, picking some things up. And a hitch-mounted basket like this is a great way to do things like that, because it's got a high weight capacity of 500 pounds. And if you have anything out here that's messy, like bags of mulch, dirt, concrete from the hardware store that tend to make a mess inside the vehicle, that mess out here is a lot easier to clean.

One thing to consider for this guy is that it will obstruct your taillights. Well, not your taillights, it'll obstruct your backup sensors and you're gonna see a portion of it in your backup camera. But that is a good thing 'cause it gives you a good idea as far as where your cargo carrier is in relation to the rear of your vehicle. So, and this guy right here, these are gonna be the contact points that you're gonna make 'cause that's the sturdier part of the carrier.

Now will start by getting a few measurements. Our closest distance will be our first measurement from the front side of the rack to the back side of the bumper.

As you can see, it does have a 2-inch shank connected to our 2-inch receiver and it's going to be using a hitch pin and clip. Today on our 2015 Nissan Murano, we're going to be doing a test fit of the Let's Go Arrow gear cage. The Let's Go Arrow gear cage is going to be thirty two inches wide by forty eight inches long and have a sturdy steel construction with a three hundred pound weight capacity. It's going to be part number HCR222. If you look down at the bottom, you're going to see that it's going to have that two inch shank that's going to connect to our two inch receiver via an anti rattle bolt as well. That way it's going to eliminate a lot of the sway, rattle and wobble. If you look on the back of the vehicle with me shaking on it, it's shaking the vehicle rather than just the rack.

SportRack Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2015 Nissan Murano

Today on our 2015 Nissan Murano, we're going to be doing a test fit to the SportRack Vista Cargo Carrier. This cargo carrier is going to be 20-inches wide by 60-inches long with that nice expanded metal bottom for easy clean-ability and a sturdy steel construction for a 500-pound weight capacity. It's going to be attached with that two-inch folding shank that will attach to our two-inch receiver via an anti-rattle bolt there on the driver's side. It's going to be part number SR9851. Let's start off by getting a few measurements. Our closest distance here in the folded-out position is going to be from this part here to the back side of the bumper, at about 8 7/8 inches. Overall distance that we've added to the back of the vehicle, from the rear of the bumper to the back of the rack, at about 37 1/4 inches, with a rear-ground clearance of about 14 3/8 inches. Let's go ahead and open up our rear hatch and see what kind of clearance we have there. As you can see, we're going to have full, unobstructed access.

Today on our 2015 Nissan Murano, we're going to be doing a test fit of this SportRack Vista Cargo Carrier. This cargo carrier is going to be part number SR9849. It's going to be 20 inches wide by 60 inches long and have that expanded metal base that is going to make it perfect for easy cleanability. If you going to be carrying anything that spills or whatever on top of it. Next, you're going to have that 2 inch shank. That's going to attach to that 2 inch receiver via an anti-rattle bolt that are on the driver's side.

Today on our 2015 Nissan Murano we're going to be doing a test fit of the Detail K2 cargo carrier. This is going to be 20" by 60" cargo carrier with that sturdy steel construction and 500 pound weight capacity. It's going to have that nice expanded metal base as well for easy cleanability. If you look down here you're going to see your 2" folding shank that's going to fold up and stow up nice against the back of the vehicle. That 2" shank is going to connect to our 2" receiver with a hitch pin and clip. Keep in mind that the hitch pin and clip is not included with this kit.

Today on our 2015 Nissan Murano we're going to be doing a test fit of the CURT cargo carrier. This CURT cargo carrier is going to be part number C18153. It's going to be 24" wide by 60" long with that sturdy steel construction and a 500 pound weight capacity. That expanded metal grate on the bottom is going to make it really easy to clinical and get anything off if anything does get on there. It's going to have a nice 2" shank that's going to attach to your 2" receiver. The only thing to keep in mind, that your hitch pin and clip are not included.

Today on our 2014 Nissan Murano we're test fitting the Stromberg-Carlson 23 by 60 cargo carrier. Now they designed this cargo carrier for use with 2" hitches, and it has a 500 pound weight capacity. The part number on it is CC-100. Cargo carrier has a few really nice things going for it. The first thing I noticed is how large the openings are in our expanded steel. That's going to give us lots of room for that dirt and debris to fall down and through rather than just sitting up here and building up on top of the carrier. I also like the compactness of the raised rail.

MaxxTow Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2014 Nissan Murano

Today on our 2014 Nissan Murano we've got the 21x48 max tow cargo carrier, and we're test fitting it. This cargo carrier, as you can see is a mainly aluminum construction. It's been designed to carry 500lbs and for use with 2 inch hitches. Part number on it is going to be MT70422. You can see our aluminum slatted floor here, gives great support for those larger items. You've got a raised rail all the way around the outside edge. Let's see how tall that is. It's going to be about 2 inches.

Nice and high at about 5 and 1/2 inches there.

It's 20 inches by 60 inches and it's going to offer a weight capacity of 500 pounds. Part number on it is C18150. You'll see we've got a raised edge all the way around the carrier here. That gives us really good support for the gear that we've got loaded up. It's about 5 1/2 inches high.

SportRack Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2014 Nissan Murano

Today on our 2014 Nissan Murano, we'll be doing a test fit of the Sport Rack Vista Folding Cargo Carrier, that's part number SR9851. Its dimensions are 20 x 60 and has a nice weight capacity of 500 pounds. We can go ahead and begin our test fit by sliding the shank into the receiver of our Murano and we'll line up our pin holes. We are going to go with our second pin hole which is going to be our 5/8 pin hole. All right that looks pretty close and we'll take our included anti rattle bolt and thread that through. Now the nice thing about this anti rattle bolt it's going to help reduce the play and the rattle within our hitch and our carrier.
