Best Jeep Commander Cargo Carriers

My 9 year old and I were able to assemble and install this in about an hour. The anti rattle bolt recommended in the video, and the lights, were great additions and I definitely recommend them too. Handled a 900 mile round trip around the northeast and had plenty of room to bring Xmas presents home in the Curt waterproof cargo bag.

This is a solid Cargo carrier. I was originally looking for a rooftop carrier but I came to realize that a cargo carrier is a far superior option for increased weight and size, ease of access, stability and aerodynamic. Although this one doesn't fold up, there is still adequate space to access the rear hatch on my SUV.

Put this on an 2023 Rav 4 Hybrid- Easy to put together. You might need two people to get it up on top. Strong. Will create some wind noise after install. Solid build and construction.

I only use the roof rack for vacations because they make cars so small on the interior now a days. It handles quite a bit of luggage. Including two big size luggage and two small is how I travel. Make sure to get water proof covers and good straps. I stopped every 3 hours to make sure load was secure and drove over 700 miles without any issues. The rack will make whistle noise because of the wind passing through the bars but I just toned it out and blasted the radio . The product is great and sturdy easy on and easy off. My only complaint is putting on the wind guard. I couldn’t figure it out because the instructions have poor information on the wind plate. Also it took two deliveries to receive the product due to my first delivery being opened/ repackaged and missing parts like keys. I returned it and got the product in a new package with no more issues. Customer service was very helpful also and communication was well organized. Make sure to order well in advance just incase you might have to send the product back because of packaging issues. Also product is easy to store without disassembly of the rack rails. I put it in my garage and it takes up no space. I hope this review helps someone. Thank you

Initial quality was excellent and assembly a snap. Finding a roof basket that wouldn't look like a tiny hat on a Jeep Commander was difficult, but the MegaWarrior is perfect! Assembly and mounting took less than an hour and it looks great. Now it just needs to be outfitted with a set of off-road lights. ;-)

The MegaWarrior is a great Roof Rack. The only thing I didn’t like was the fit to the roof rails. My rails that I purchased from you are shaped like aircraft wings and the basket clamps seem to be designed for round rails. However I was able to complete the attachment and the rack remained secure for a 2,000 mile trip.

I use this on my 2022 F250, when hauling my cab over. I was able to remove the folding part and attach it straight to my hitch to get it closer to the back of the truck. It’s light weight, decently sturdy, and easy to assemble.

This thing was not fun to put together. At all. But I got fair warning about it from the reviews. I suggest a 17mm socket bit and a drill. Plan on taking it apart a couple times so don't cinch it down tight at first. Once it is put together it's a solid unit. It'll be nice for our camping trips. The light bulky stuff that took up precious real estate can now ride outside.

Excellent roof rack for the Jeep!

I just installed this basket with the extender. I am totally pleased with it's quality and easy of assembly. I did ask etrailer about the fit for a 93 Wrangler with a Smittybilt rack (pics included). I was told that the rack without the extender would not fit so I ordered the package. They were correct, it had to have the extender but not for the reason they told me. the spacing between the rails for the rack were OK but the middle rail on the rack placed the brackets for the basket directly over the cloth top frame and they rubbed, which would have worn the top. I am glad I ordered the extender. One thing: I tried to order the light bracket kit but it was OOS so they told me they would not send anything until those were in. I needed the basket now and did not want to wait for the entire order(and pay interest on my credit card). I cancelled the order and then did reorder just the basket and extender later. Now I will have to pay shipping on the light brackets. In all-I love that basket-it looks great, the fit and finish is perfect and it's strong beyond expectations.

Once it was together, I really liked it. It wasn’t that easy to put together and it required metric tools which I had to search for. It worked well and it was very useful.

Great little rack that does it's job. 4/5 due to two factors, one being its maximum 150lbs rating & two for being positioned DIRECTLY behind the stock exhaust on the 2017 Fiesta ST. We used this to driving across the country (Seattle, WA > Norfolk, VA) and it worked great, after wrapping our suitcase that was directly behind the exhaust in some heat resistant insulation. It did Melt the canvas tarp slightly but after the insulation, the suitcase was fine. Definitely was a lifesaver for space, with three adults, a chihuahua and 17lb cat being in the car for 45 hours, over the span of 5 days.

Great cargo rack! Well made and strong. We modified ours to carry our ebikes on top of our generator and cooler. We've been from coast to coast with no problems.

Used it a hand full of times for camping with two different SUVs and its been great. Once over 2000 miles round trip. With the waterproof bag you can hold more gear since it goes above the side rails. Just be careful if your driveway slopes down you’ll lightly scrape the ground when backing out. And if you have a smaller suv or car make sure you center the heaviest items or it will feel it pulling back and forth on the freeway.

the good: strong. lots of anchor points. secure once assembled. gaps between bars are small, stuff doesn't slip through and hit my roof. reasonably priced. mounts securely. on and off relatively easily. holds a good amount of cargo. weight limit is more than my roof can handle anyway. the bad: assembly is a pain and didn't fit exactly. small rust spots developing. heavy. plastic wind deflector cracked from a rock. lots of wind noise driving at high speeds. overall. i recommend this basket. had some assembly issues because the two pieces didn't fit into each other easily, one side is slightly off-center. wish the plastic wind deflector was metal instead. i've used it several times and have no real issues with it.

I purchased this for my daughter who has a very active lifestyle. She has driven cross country and goes camping with friends. She absolutely loves this roof rack. It was easy to mount and easy to load.

I chose this rack to mount on my PUTCO venture bed rack because its the same exact size as the bed of my 2019 Ranger I used Yakima mounts for quick on and off. Couldnt be happier and love the look

I have had this rack on my Ford Excursion for a full year now. I go whitewater kayaking about every weekend and they fit in the rack very nicely. I bought a 4'x8' sheet of expanded steel mesh for a floor, cut it to length, painted it with truck bed liner, and fastened it to the cross bars with sheet metal screws so I wouldn't have to worry about balancing on the cross bars while loading and tying down gear. This summer we went to from TN to CO with 3 boats stuffed full of gear on top, and it handled them with ease. Get the folding ladder to make loading and unloading a breeze!

I’ve got several 1400+ mile trips with this on both a 2017 4Runner and a 2023 Kia Sportage. The basket is well made, easy to install, very solid and so far rust free.

Fit my OEM Hyundai Palisade crossbars perfectly.

Unfortunately we can’t open rear of 2018 expedition with the top box in place. One of the knob locking pins is/was broken in shipping. I also wish all of the items were keyed the same. This whole setup is 5 keys. I’ll probably call a locksmith and have them all re-keyed if possible.

Super easy to install. Took about 30 minutes to get it all done. Swapped out with 8 cores so keys are the same. Easy replacement. Well built. The Yakima OffGrid medium rack arrived yesterday at about 10:30 a.m. It was fully unpacked/assembled/installed by about 11:45. etrailer did a fine job of communicating/pricing/delivering and supporting this good product. I've been using Yakima products (and others) for biking, paddling, fishing etc. for about 45 years. This rack is a serious solution to a variety of uses of a roof rack. I will be able to use it on various vehicles and for a number of applications (sports, chores,travel etc.) It has more flexibility than most racks and I can't imagine a more durable, quality design. My particular needs, being in my "Dotage", are met by the ability to remove the cross bars and fairing for an open platform, or keep them on and custom fit to a spare tire, or bike rack, kayak rack etc. The attaching mechanisms drew my attention. I put this on the car with solo and with caution using a protective mat. It is very manageable and easy to fit. These mechanisms for tightening down on the crossbars bring the added value (and cost) to folks like me that don't want to spend a lot of time and effort installing a rooftop rack. I wanted secure, solid attachment with simplicity. The OffGrid delivers! No pain killers needed after the install! This "Medium" OffGrid is more than adequate for my initial uses. The internal and external dimensions are pretty much ideal for this 2017 Sienna. A full size spare tire will fit just right. A nice fit for a canoe as well. I admit to scouring the internet and considering dozens of products from baskets to platforms and this OffGrid showed a lot of promise. Its versatility and ruggedness competes with the best designs at about half the price of many. My thoughts included the extension bracket, but the medium OffGrid really does meet most of my expectations and needs for various applications. Now, to the matter of noise. There is wind noise. However, for me, it simply blends into the symphony of white noise that comes with highway travel (and the ringing in my ears) :)......Of all the racks, bikes, canoes,kayaks ladders, lumber, etc., etc. that I have carried on car tops, the wind sounds of this carrier are negligible. The fairing is a nice, well thought out feature that works well. So, my five star rating is for both the product and the vendor. Once again "eTrailer" has proven themselves to be one of the best sources of such products nationwide. Their product information efforts are an industry leader and they deserve credit for providing extremely helpful product reviews and explanations. That's what got me to choose them on this purchase. Those of us well into our "Dotage" appreciate learning all we can!

This is a great product. As described, easy to assemble, light weight. I needed a solution to carry my spare tire for my 2020 Forrest River NOBO 16.2. The NOBO line comes with Rhino tracks to put accessories on them. The camper has the tire mounted on the bumper, but I needed space for a bike rack. I ordered Aero Bars and mounts from etrailer, and this basket as well as the tie down. Worked Great!!!

This is a great basket! It's very light and durable. I can pick it up easily in one hand even though it's pretty big. I have this basket on my 2011 Yaris and it holds 3 duffel bags full of clothes, a folding vacuum, highchair, 2 camping chairs, a longboard, skateboard, a four foot folding table, and another smaller folding table. I've had a few instances where the basket slipped sideways but that was because of extremely hazards roads in Kings Conservation Area in California and getting ran over by half of a tree tumbling down the road and over top of my car in a down burst from a monsoon in Phoenix. This basket has seen about 8,000 miles through 24 states in the last year and I intend for it to see at least a dozen more this year.

Great solution for over the short bed on my Rivian R1T where my old roof box wouldn’t fit. The rectangular shape makes the most of the short length. I could likely fit two side by side over the bed if needed. Installation was fairly easy. I do wish the clamps were engineered to go on and off more easily. At each corner it requires two thumb screws on very long studs that come from underneath and then through a top plate, so 4 loose parts per corner have to come off to remove it. The build quality is fairly good but I guess I expected better for the price. Even the Yakima stickers are misaligned on the outside. It also says in the instructions that it comes with straps to hold down items in the box, but there were no straps included with mine. Overall it will definitely get the job done and a perfect fit over my truck bed, with only minor quibbles.

We had an issue with the pin holes aligning that allow the sides to connect to one another. I sent etrailer a message and they were quick to replace it. It’s not a really high quality basket but it’s one of the few that are caged in and fold up and out of the way like this. I use a hitch stabilizer with it as well since this is on the back of a 5th wheel. Overall happy with it but feel like the consistency and alignment of the walls could be better.

Very Good product that fit our needs well for extra carrying space for 5 day road trip with 5 people in Subaru Outback. Wanted something in addition to our cartop carrier that we could lock up gear in as we left car parked for several hours as we explored the coast and Redwoods. Stored a 52 qt cooler, Coleman collapsible 2-burner propane stove, milk crate, similarly sized-plastic bin of odds and ends, 3 camp chairs, large sun shade, blue tarp. All fit with bag closed and top on (used 3 same keyed locks with long U shackles (think 2 inch). Worked great and could barely see it in rearview mirror (had to really look for it) and could not hear it when travelling ( Did use antirattle plate, and hitch lock) . With gear did not feel it alter driving feel at all. Fit 2 inch hitch well and allowed rear gate to open with a couple millimeters clearance to spare (Fantastic! didn't think we would be able to open gate). Fitted with lights, harness was easy and I opted to attach all with twist ties. Quickly made lic plate holder out of sheet metal and used a battery powered light to illuminate plate to stay legal at night. Added some reflective tape all around. Set up worked great and without any problems. No problem travelling with in either up (folded up, no gear) or down (gear stowed and top locked on) position. While at campsites used as counter top for light items and place to spread out wet towels. No problem with CarPod bag but did not have any real precip to test, kept dusty roads out though. The corner ties on bag are a bit short but no big deal. Thought I might build a frame to add rigidity but wasn’t really necessary for us. Overall good item.

I've had this rack on my 1995 Grand Cherokee and it's still great. Paint has finally started peeling but count the years to 2018 and it's been at 6000 feet in sun all that time! These roof racks by Surco are the impossible combination; light and sturdy. This longer version is going on my 4x4 full size expedition Van. The box arrived quickly, and it's a precision fit together. However, like all roof rack baskets, they show a set of floor slats that are not part of the kit and no disclaimer about it. Just because the others are doing that sort of misleading marketing doesn't mean they have to. I would like more floor options, like a chain link fence which could be rolled for easy shipping or expanded metal. I would also like color options, I need this one in white, so I'll have to paint it. etrailer got right on this order and it arrived earlier than I expected.

Excellent choice, super dynamic for its size. Owned it for a year now. I’ve put it on two cars, and I’ve used it several times. It’s gotten our family to and from the campsite and moving a few times. If wanted during the seasons, you can easily take it off by using the available key.
