Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4"
We have a 2014 PriusV and needed a trailer hitch for towing a 15 foot sailboat we recently bought. Problem was, Toyota recommends not towing with the PriusV. An Internet search revealed there were a few companies that had light weight hitches available specifically designed for the Prius models. After reading reviews, we decided on etrailers.com due to hitch design, hitch accessories (i.e., draw bar and wiring), price, free shipping, and supposedly easy installation in 30 minutes. I called etrailer.com to ask a question and the agent told me that if I ordered the hitch package I needed at the time of my call (Monday) I would have the parts in hand by Friday so I placed my order. Parts arrived as expected. What a pleasant surprise, product quality surpassed my expectations! Being a technical person I found all the directions remarkably well written with excellent supporting drawings and photos. I installed the hitch by myself in roughly 15 minutes. Installing the wiring took a little more time due more disassembly of panels to channel wiring as well as some simple assembly needed on wiring. The entire process took less than an hour and looks professionally installed. I'm very happy with the overall experience and highly recommend etrailer.com for all your hitch needs.
My son-in-law and I installed this hitch on a 2012 Toyota Prius V. The video for the install on a Prius is accurate for a Prius V with the exception that a Prius V does not have cosmetic cowling on the underbody that has to be removed. The install was straightforward and we had the hitch on in about 45 minutes. Other than the receiver on the hitch, you can't see the hitch without bending down and looking under the bumper. I personally like the aesthetics. We're using the hitch with the Swagman XTC-2 bike carrier and the combination is ideal for transporting our two bicycles. The fit between the hitch and bike carrier is tight and the Swagman allows us to drop the middle bar down for access to open the rear hatch of the vehicle when the bikes are not in the carrier but leaving the bike carrier attached. We bought the Prius V so we could carry passengers, gear and two bicycles on trips. The draw-tite hitch and Swagman XTC-2 give us the flexibility to do that. Here's some pictures to demonstrate as I've had a difficult time finding photos on the web showing a Prius V with hitch and bicycle carrier installed. I have a cover on the hitch receiver in some photos, sorry I took the photos at night with a flash, but hey, I did the review! Good luck. Oh, by the way, like others have written, E Trailer was on top of things from the get go and I received numerous e-mails about the status of my order and follow-up after my receipt. Only took three business days between the date of my order and delivery to my home. The hitch and bike carrier were boxed and then inserted into another heavy duty shipping box. There were a few small tears in the outer box (assume from rough handling by the delivery carrier) but the contents were not damaged in any way. I would definitely order again from etrailer.com.

Great product, but the bolt holes didn't line up! Luckily I had a hydraulic jack and a 2x4 that I could use to bend the part with bolt holes by spreading the two side pieces. That worked great and I installed the hitch successfully.
I actually only owned this for 2 months since my car was totaled and I didn't take it off... But I did take a 30 hope road trip and hauled cargo and a bicycle with it and it did really well! I ended up buying the same model Prius and I opted for the "EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2"“ so that I didn't have to use the converter since all of my attachments are 2". I like them both. If you order the EcoHitch, be prepared to wait! I waited 6 months, but that was ok with me since I didn't do much with it during the cold months...

Love it! This trailer hitch allows an upright bike rack to attach, with the addition of an adapter, to our hatchback style Prius. It is much sturdier than our old bike rack that leaned against the hatch window. The trailer hitch/bike rack combo allows us to get into the hatch without removing the rack. We travelled across Florida and back, 300 miles, with no problems. Your website was very helpful in determining the proper hitch and installation was easy. Thank you for a great product at a good price.
I installed it in 15 minutes with good video and instructions that are provided. Mounting tabs lined up perfectly to OEM holes using their upgraded bolts and washers. Received it in 3 days after they sent me shipping confirmation and tracking number. They should tape foam on the mounting tabs to prevent damage and puncturing through the box. I like how it tucks up and hardly noticeable.

Excellent price, well-made, easy to install, and works great on my 2022 Prius Prime for transporting my bicycle with a hitch mount rack.
I have installed the hitch on our 2018 Prius. The video was a big help. It took me about 5 hours to install partially because I was on my back. A lift would have sped things up dramatically. A lot of time was spent trying to figure how to remove the wiring harness clips from the lower bumper fascia panel. I am not a neophyte. I have lots of tools. I have at least 10 pairs of needle nose pliers both straight and angled in various sizes. After more than an hour trying various approaches, I finally realized I could unclip them with my fingers. If l could see them, it would be easy but they are in a spot where you cant "see". It would be a big help if you spent some more time in your video on how to deal with the wiring harness. I was installing on a Prius 3 which has the proximity sensors mounted in the bumper.

Went together very well. Did some trimming to one undercarriage shield, and then trimmed it a bit more since the directions weren't quite on the mark, but easy enough with a die grinder.
March 2013 - '07 Toyota Prius Curt Hitch. This is my second Curt hitch from etrailer.com, and they are great products that hold up well even with the salt and sand in winter. The Prius hitch is very easy to install for a DIY'er. It takes about 45 minutes with only basic tools. The instructions are clear and the hitch lined up perfectly. This hitch is perfect for light duty or a bike rack, and is barely noticeable once installed. It is my opinion that the Curt hitch is worth the extra money as it is a very high quality product.

EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2"
Bombproof hitch. Installation was quite a challenge even though I've installed a 1.25" receiver on a different Prius before. A few tips, in no particular order: 1. The directions get driver's side and passenger side mixed up at one point. It's pretty easy to decipher though. 2. If you've never used a bolt fisher before, maybe watch a bit of YouTube on it before you start, and maybe practice fisher removal on a thin scrap of plywood before you commit. 3. Get a bunch of plastic clips in advance because you're likely to break some or all of the ones you remove. 4. You'll need to lift the car a bit, e.g. by backing it up on to a double stack of 2x6 scraps or with jack stands. 5. If you don't have a strong assistant, you'll need a jack to lift it. Because the center of gravity is behind the receiver, you'll also need to slide a strong metal or wood bar/pipe/rod through the receiver hole and a few inches back so you have something to balance on your jack. 6. Safety glasses for all the dirt that will rain down. 7. An extra car or way to get to the hardware store for the tool you're missing.
(2013 Prius Three, self-installed) The HITCH itself is incredible, and great quality. It's a strong performer. If you have a Prius and are doing a self-install, for the love of god just get a Class 1 hitch that's smaller and doesn't have the added bolt holes and wings to attach to the frame. Installation was a bitch, and I found myself regretting my sturdier choice for the Class 2 hitch while I was trying to install. Now, mind you, I used ramps at home in my garage, and did it mostly on my own, not a lift nor a team of people installing. It's heavy -- which means strong for the tow -- so trying to finagle it while tearing apart the underbelly of the Prius was just annoying as hell. Having to cut apart the rainshield/splash shield to even access the places that it needed to go in at the weird angles while holding this heavy chunk of metal up is trying on the patience and determination. I even wound up finagling THREE different jack stands to support parts of it while I attempted to maneuver the thing in, while fighting off the car's rain shield and such. Not to mention, it takes up so much space, being so beefy and strong, that it more or less disfigures the entire bumper and presses the side fender or bumper out in weird ways unless you have 10 times more patience to deal with the added body work to address it being SUCH a *TIGHT* fit, that you have to fight against the whole while. Again, the product *itself* is phenomenal and deserves great reviews. Just don't try to self-install at home on ramps if you've got a Prius, or you'll wind up wishing you had just bought a simpler, lighter, easier to install Class 1 hitch instead. And hopefully the smaller size of the Class 1 won't disfigure your back end.

Great trailer hitch for my 2017 Prius! Put it on today and it is perfect for my Thule Epos 2 bike rack. The installation video was a tremendous help! Trailer hitch went on without any problems, thank you so much for the great installation video. After watching it, it gave me the knowledge and confidence to install the hitch myself.
excellent product. fit perfectly onto my 2017 prius prime. this installation in not for the inexperienced to install. requires knowledge, experience and appropriate tools for removing and reinserting the plastic push pins securing then numerous undercarriage plastic panels which need to be removed. Two to three hours installation if prior experience. david

EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2"
does not fit at all, i will have to bend several pieces of metal and push my muffler down to make it fit. Don't believe them when they say it will fit your car, they said it would fit my 2008 prius and lied.
Installation was straightforward and the receiver is easy to get to but doesn't stick out at all. Great all around, thanks!

Great hitch which tucks under the rear bumper. Only the receiver is visible which I appreciate. Installation was fairly straightforward.
product worked great. Instructions could be clearer, especially where to cut. etrailer staff are awesome. This is the second hitch I've purchased for a prius, based on their recommendation and I'm not disappointed. I will go to etrailer in the future.

EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2"
This hitch was perfect for my Toyota Prius. It was easy to install due to the clear instructions and video.
On a 2022 Prius Nightshade eAWD. The trailer hitch looks like a factory install, neat, tidy and only the receiver attachment is visible. We mainly plan to use it with our bike attachment but may tow our small utility trailer around town for light towing. Our local muffler shop installed it with out removing the bumper cover. He ingeniously was able to bend the tabs by pressing them in using a piece of sheet metal and a clamp. Install was only $xxx.

EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2"
Awesome trailer hitch for my prius v! Installed in about 15 minutes. No problems.
This is an excellent hitch. It bolts to Prius with not too much difficulty and is mostly hidden behind the bumper. The main reason I like it so much is that it is a full size class III hitch which can be used with the majority of bike racks and other hitch accessories. I also use it to pull a small utility trailer. Who needs a gas guzzling pickup truck?

Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4"
Product arrived on time and online videos were very helpful. I got some Rhino ramps to raise the back of my 2012 Toyota Prius C and got the job done in 30 minutes.
Ordered a hitch for our Prius C so we could install a nice bike rack. Rack arrived in 2 days, and installation was done in under 15 minutes after watching the instructional video before we ordered. I'm a Mercedes-Benz technician, so I have access to a lift and all my tools. Even for an amateur in their driveway, this install would take maybe 30 minutes with some basic tools and no experience. Highly recommend Etrailer if you need to get a hitch for your car or truck.

Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2"
The hitch receiver came in a sturdy oversized box containing no padding to secure the hitch, possibly explaining the two large holes in the box. There was no immediately visible damage to the hitch but when I measured the distance between the mounting flanges at the forward and rear corresponding edges there was about 1/2 inch difference, suggesting that they were bent presumably during shipping. Fortunately, I was able to mount it to my 2018 RAV4 Hybrid Limited without the need to bend anything. The installation went pretty smoothly except for some fiddling to disconnect the muffler hanger, and I broke two of the plastic fittings that hold a plastic panel in place over the driver side mounting area. I replaced the plastic fittings with some bolts and nuts so no worries. This was a 1-man install job which I accomplished by using a floor jack to raise the hitch into position. Shipping was super fast! I received it the day after I ordered it. All in all I think I will be really happy with this purchase.
I choose etrailer based on great prior reviews, price, and vast selections. While watching a few of their YouTube videos that were very specific and informative in how to install my hitch, I felt confident in their product and customer service quality. I choose standard shipping and it was I received it that week. Very fast! Upon inspection I was surprised how mint condition it was I say that because it there wasn’t really much protection in the box protecting the hitch. I’ve worked for a major shipping company and boxes are thrown around in transport, especially when it comes off the main truck and hits the warehouse conveyor belt system. It’s not malicious, it’s just part of how it’s done. That being said, there wasn’t a mark on it. Great powder coat all around. Came with all well made hardware and directions That were easy to follow. I actually was able to install it myself in less than 30 min. Don’t pay to have someone install it. Just ask a neighbor or a family member to help. All you really need help with or just someone to hold one side up when you lift it in in mine I was even able to just balance it with one of my legs while I have the other side because it wasn’t a huge hitch. Really impressed with it and very happy and would definitely order from them again

EcoHitch Stealth Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2"
Great quality. Reasonable price. Relatively easy installation. No special tools needed. Looks great on the Prius. I use it only for a bike rack. Prius' are not the vehicle you want to use to tow a trailer! The 2" receiver is more stable for bike racks in my opinion.
Not easy to install, but that is due more to the car where I installed it more than the hitch itself. The car is a 2018 Prius Prime. There is a lot of plastic shielding you have to remove first, and the plastic fasteners for the shielding are hard to remove and mostly break when you remove them Getting the bolts that hold the hitch to the frame lined up and the the threads started is quite difficult, even with another person to help.

You need to trim the rear splashguard but the instructions tell you how. You will need to be able to pop out the plastic panel fittings, and if any of them break, you will need some replacements for 10mm holes
I installed this trailer hitch on my 2018 Toyota Sienna. It is very well-built, and fit perfectly. Customer service was very responsive when I had some questions, and responded right away, both by phone and email. The instructions were very good, but could benefit from additional information regarding cutting the car’s rear trim panel. In addition to the cut that needs to be made for the trailer hitch bolting plate to go through on the driver’s side , it also needs to be cut around the main bar / receiver area. Instead of cutting a big slot for the main bar, I cut out around the receiver plates, and put drain holes in the ends that would otherwise collect water. One shortcut that I found was that I was able to move the exhaust out of the way far enough by just removing the rearmost hanger, rather than removing the two hangers as shown in the video.

Arrived in a very timely manner in good shape. Easy install with instructions. I chose not to drop the exhaust as you can get the bolts in easy enough with it on. For the factory seven way plug and bracket i just bent it back and it works great. I have ordered through etrailer before and will do it again in the future ! thanks guys Tyler
I purchased this to mount on a 2009 4Runner for use with a bicycle hitch rack. It was very easy to install. Installation took about 45 minutes (with a 14 yr old helping). I did not have to move or drop the muffler; instead, I used a flat wrench to work around the muffler. The most difficult part of the install was removing the tow hook from the 4Runner prior to getting started. Once installed, the hitch sticks out about 3 inches past the bumper. I was not expecting it to stick out this much, but it seems like a necessary part of the design due to where the tire is mounted.

Hitch Receiver was a perfect custom fit. A little tricky to install by yourself, but I was successful. I would just add the following note to the installation instructions. In addition to removing the plastic push clip from the plastic cover on the driver side, you ALSO need to remove the 6mm (10mm head) bolt from the plastic cover same driver side to lower it
It takes a bit of wrangling. I found duct tape the handle nuts in place made it much easier to start the bolts. Also sliding the rubber muffler hanger off its single support. Rather than taking the double end.

I installed this a year ago and it's been great. I mostly use it for a bike rack and it's done fine with 75 lb of bike. It didn't fit correctly when I got it (manufacturing defect), but support was great and got me some spacers that made it fit.
Sturdy construction. Never had a problem with it. Would buy again.

Perfect high quality Hitch was selected. The testimonials with pictures/videos was excellent and helped me with my decision. Received the hitch in 3 days. The installer that etrailer recommended (TowPro, Duluth, GA) did a first class job at a reasonable price. Start to finish a great experience.
Wanted this hitch for bike rack only - no towing anticipated. Easy to remove existing bolts and discard. New (supplied) bolts effective. Only thing negative is corrugated box got banged up which means the product suffered minor scratching. Entire process took 2 of us 25 minutes. If you are trying to do this by yourself you'll need a jack stand. Shimmying the box for one side is - maybe - effective, but I would not recommend... all in all good product and value. Hitch is pretty heavy... all good. A big + was install video. Helpful

Perfect fit. Replaced a MAZDA Class one 1 1/4 hitch with this 2 inch class III. Wanted a little more strength to tow a pop up camper. Install was not too difficult. Removing spare tire really made it easier.
I really liked all the video installation guides that eTrailer provides. It really helped me figure out how to get my hitch in and around the heat shields in my Mazda CX9 (2013). I did need an extra set of hands to get it in. Not that the hitch was too heavy for one person, it's just that it's balanced weird and it really just takes 4 hands to maneuver it. Once I got it in place. Installation just took about 10 minutes to tighten down all the bolts. I didn't have to remove the spare tire. TIP: a 3/4" ratcheting wretch would be very helpful (vs a socket wrench). My only complaint is that the hitch is slightly too narrow. There is a 1/16-1/32 inch gap between the hitch and one side of the frame. So I end up getting a little space. This doesn't worry me much, I don't plan on towing more than about 1000lbs. It's just not snug against the frame on both sides. When it comes down to it, there are six (6) 12mm bolts holding the hitch onto the frame, so it shouldn't be an issue. I just wonder if I was sent the correct hitch for my vehicle. If I were towing 6500lbs I would be really concerned about this. but I would probably have a hitch that was welded onto the frame instead of bolted on. All in all, shopping with eTrailer was great. They sent me emails along the way telling me my order was processed, order shipped, and a follow up email after it was delivered. I found their pricing to be comparable to others and a little cheaper in some cases.
What our customers are saying:
"Excellent Experience. Nice website. Easy to find the right hitch. Hitch came quickly. It was a perfect fit for our Toyota Matrix with Ground Effects."
