In the instructions, you'll notice that it does state that we need to add shims to our Tonneau Side Rails, so that we get a correct even-level fit. I just want you to know that the shims are already pre-installed the entire length of each side rail and that's both on the driver and passenger side of our vehicle. So, that step is already done for us and we are ready to install them. We'll begin our install by taking our driver's side Tonneau Rail and place it onto the bed rail of our pickup truck. And we want to make sure that the seal of our Tonneau Rail is sitting nicely on the bed rail of our pickup. With our Tonneau rail in place, we are ready to install our clamps.

Today on our 2012 Ford F150, we'll be installing the Extang Encore hard folding tonneau cover, part number EX62790. We'll take rail that's labelled "driver's side" and put it on the driver's side of our pickup bed. To make sure that this rail is in the correct location, you need to make sure it's about an inch away from the front of our bed. On the inside of our side rail there are going to be three stickers, one in the front, one in the middle, and one in the rear. These are approximate clamp location stickers, so we want to keep our clamps as close to that sticker indicator as possible. These clamps have grooves on each side. We want to make sure that this side is gripping the inside of our rail, and that the other side is going around our bed rail on the back side.
