Best 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 5th Wheel Tailgates

One year ago I purchased this model tailgate for my 2003 Silverado. I found immediately that delivery of it as without exception the fastest. This tailgate made the act of hooking and unhooking from my 5th wheel trailer was simplified tremendously. The visual of the Pin lining up with the hitch was very clear. The Tailgate did require some minor assembly by me however minimal tools were all that was needed for the assembly. This took a mere 30 minutes for me to perform and the tailgate fit perfectly. It still looks great to this day and performs excellently. I recommend this product without reservation.

Just bought this for my 2001 Chevy Silverado 2500HD Duramax and its a great product, fit just like a glove one slight modification with the tailgate wires. I received it days before they said I would very happy with the product and staff. Thanks eTrailer!!!

tailgate holds up well - caught my 5th wheel when it rolled off hitch. This prevented further damage - tailgate has only a minor bend. What a lifesaver !!!

I've order a tailgate once before fore my 2000 Ford F250 and was really satisfied with that one. I now have a 2008 Chevy Silverado and wanted one like it. Upon receiving the tailgate and opening I was once again really satisfied. The tailgate is so easy to install the hardware and to finally install on the pickup. I highly recommend etrailer for your pickup and trailer needs.

Having the new tailgate makes backing up and locking to the hitch extremely convenient. When camping, we have had quite a few folks comment about the tailgate...

I have to say easy to install. Looks nice Only problem is it is a little loose but I am sure I will figure out how to tighten it up.

The fifth wheel tail gate is excellent tail gate that makes my truck even better than it already does. I will be using it all the time as my everyday tail gate, it lets me have a tail gate on my truck even when trailer is attached to my truck

We love our new tailgate!!! It is very sturdy. Now we can carry things in the bed of our truck, while hauling our 5th wheel, without the worry of them falling out! It was very affordable, compared to other sites we visited. It arrived in a timely manner & the customer service with follow up is great!

It never did seal well. After driving on dirt and dusty roads I still get a lot of dust inside the bed. I have a 2011 Silverado with a Back Flip bed cover. Thanks for your follow-up.

They take a little time to install bu they definitely cut down on the dust that gets into your bed when you have a shell/tonneu cover on.

After reading instructions twice we installed lower seat for tailgate to 19 1/2 in. mark. Then installed right upright seal(see pic). After checking fit we installed left seal putting it on radius. Much better fitting seal. Had to put seal(excess from upright) on tailgate near latch(zee pic) to try to fill gaps at top of tailgate. Installed on 2018 Chevy silverado. Hope pic go through.

Seal installed easily With exception of sidewall seal on my 2019 Ford Ranger Lariat. Big gap between sidewall and tailgate, Resorted to putting seal next to the taillight assembly as shown in pictures, no gaps between tailgate and seal.

worked great for about 10 opening and closings of the tail gate, then the large "bottom" piece started coming off. now a year later, the bottom piece is off and I have a dusty truck bed. yay gravel road life....

I had to cut out my sewer hose bumper. The receiver hitch would not lower enough to clear it.

Not only was the item delivered on time at a lower price than anther place I ordered and then cancelled after almost two months of waiting it is a very nice tail gate

The cutout for the gooseneck needs to be lower. We really have to crank up our trailer to clear the tail gate.

This tail gate is very good. It fit perfectly on my 2016 Silverado 3500. The only issue I have is the locking mechanism does not always release. That can be easily resolved with a screw driver or keys. It is an annoyance but other than that it is a good value for the product.

Tail gate is ok the Curt plate and A20 fifth wheel hitch are amazing! Lori in customer service is awesome!!!!

Great product makes hooking up my trailer much easier. Only wish I could get a back-up camera that would easily hook up to my 2016 Silverado I miss my back-up camera when I remove my OEM tailgate.

I was told this tailgate cannot be painted,well yes it can be just use a flex agent in base and clear.

Quite straight forward to install. Good bang for the buck if you don't need much weight loaded on the tailgate. Used with the Husky Backup Camera Relocation Kit on my 2013 F-150. Simple mod to the camera kit (cut off lower wire cover and use longer screws to attach to gate where you want it.) Camera is wide angle enough that placement isn't that critical.

One of the drawbacks is finding out that you can't retain the camera from your Ford tailgate. (I suspect this will work on other non-Ford tailgates also.) I simply removed the camera and wiring harness from the original tailgate, stuffed the cable back through the frame's exit hole and then trimmed the left side of the grommet as depicted in the photo to make room for the 90 degree electrical connection to the camera (left side). The camera is then a press fit into the plastic grommet and doesn't require any other mounting screws or glue. As you can see from the photo, the field of view is excellent. This is a free and easy fix for customers who might want to retain their camera without an expensive accessory kit.

This tailgate looks great and works great. The instructions are easy to follow for the installation. It took me about 20 minutes to complete the installation process. I recommend the Carlson Stromberg 4000 series tailgate.

Hello, I purchased the 2015 Ford F-150 Stromberg Carlson 100 Series 5th Wheel Tailgate and followed the directions. Everything worked correctly until I reached Step 11 - Reattach your factory tailgate cables to your new 100 Series tailgate.. The nuts are built into the tailgate. You need to either include (2) 1/2-inch nuts or state in the documentation the customer must purchase (2) 1/2-inch nuts to complete Step 11. I attached a picture showing the Ford tailgate and cable and the finished install. The install went faster than expected less than 30 minutes and looks great on my truck.

I give it a four just because I feel it can be more durable there is gap from one end to the other that can fit a metal pipe.....hint hint. I weigh like 210 and afraid to enter with the tailgate down. I do like the amount of space between my fifth wheel and the gate. Another suggestion etrailer maybe make a quick release pin for the tailgate insert? So I can take the insert of quick when I need too.

Very Nice! The installation instructions were clear and easy to follow. The tailgate itself took a little time to loosen up and start moving freely but did. I’m very happy with the purchase!

I was wanting a 5th wheel tailgate for my Tundra since I pull a 5th wheel camper and I’m glad I chose the stromberg tailgate, it was easy to install and looks awesome and now I don’t have to worry about ruining my tailgate. It was easy to put on, but there is about a 4 inch gap between the bottom of the tailgate and the top of the bumper that looks pretty chinsey. Might have to spray paint it to look better.

Tailgate fits perfectly for our 2002 Dodge 3500. Written instructions were a bit confusing for a visual learner. But found a great YouTube video that was perfect. Great value and price. Nice heavy gate

The powder coat paint is holding up great. Easy to install, looks good. I like to lay my tailgate down and stand on it while offloading one ton of pellets. I can't do that with this tailgate because it's not strong enough for me to stand on, or put several bags of pellets on it like I could on my orginal tailgate. Overall it's been good though and holding up well.
