Hi everybody. Andy here with etrailer. Let's take a quick look at this Optronics Co27 DC to DC Trailer Battery Charger. Now this is a smart charging system that's designed specifically to safely and efficiently charge your auxiliary or trailer batteries while you're driving. What makes this intelligent is that it doesn't just dump power into your battery. It uses a multi-stage charging process.
That means that it charges in phases, which helps protect your battery, extend its lifespan, and makes sure that it's fully and properly charged. It also is smart about when it turns on. It only activates when your vehicle's voltage hits 13.2 volts, which tells it the engine is running. And on top of that is used as something called a voltage sensitive relay or VSR. So it's not gonna pull power when the vehicle is off.
That's gonna prevent your starting battery from accidentally getting drained. Another big plus is going to be compatibility. This is gonna work with a wide range of battery types and setups, 12 volt and 24 volt lead acid batteries and 12 volt lithium batteries. So whether you're running a traditional setup or something more modern, this is gonna be flexible enough to handle it. And this is also built tough.
This unit is fully sealed. It's rated at IP67, meaning it's protected against dust and it can handle water exposure. So again, great for trailers, off-road use or harsh weather. The housing itself is aluminum with stainless steel hardware, so this is designed to hold up in demanding and real world conditions. Let me go ahead and give you some measurements here.
So looking at the overall height, we are sitting pretty close to maybe right at about, see if I can look at it here as well. About five to five-eighths to five and three-quarters inches tall. The width almost four and a quarter inches wide. And the thickness about two inches, maybe a little over. So the installation's gonna be pretty straightforward as well. This is designed as a a plug and play system. It comes exactly as you see it here. Now in regards to installation, if you're putting a whole electronic system in or recharging system in, a battery system in your RV, your trailer, what have you, and if you are looking for help with installation, as you're putting these components together, we can help you with that on this product page. Typically underneath the photo section, you'll find a link that will take you to our installer locator. If you click that link and answer the questions that it has for you, our installer locator will find an installer that etrailer has partnered with to do the work for you. Well again, my name is Andy.
