I have a 26 Summit bumper pull trailer that I need a new jack for. It is 4600 lbs dry. What weight of tongue jack do I need? thanks

The rule of thumb for estimating a tongue weight is 10-15 percent of trailer weight. A 4,600 pound trailer would have a tongue weight between 460 and 690 pounds. Somewhere between a 1,000 to 2,000 pound capacity jack would be fine. Having a jack that is rated for more than the tongue weight is not a problem. The jack you were looking at Pro Series A-Frame Topwind Jack, part # PSEA20000103, would work fine.

You could also use Dutton-Lainson jack, part # DL22530 or Bulldog Heavy Duty Jack with Steel Wheel, part # BD165412.

Just make sure you allow for the weight of the trailer when loaded and again use the 10-15 percent figures. Also make sure the jack has enough lift to get the coupler above your hitch ball on the tow vehicle so you can safely and easily disconnect the trailer.

You would just need jacks with a combined rating that's sufficient for lifting/supporting the front of the trailer. A 5,500 pound set like the Stromberg Carlson # LG-2 would be more than suitable. If you are replacing existing landing gear legs, also take a quick measurement between the weld stops to make sure you get a new set that will bolt right to your current brackets.

I need a new power jack for my Jayco Whitehawk 2016 21rks which has a weight of 5400. It got bumped by a snow plow this winter and cracked the top of the casing off and tore a red wire inside. Do you think the whole jack needs to be replaced?

If the jack tube itself wasn't damaged then it may still be good (assuming the top casing is available as a replacement part). If you can tell me what model jack you have I would be happy to look.

It came with the trailer when I bought it new. Sorry I made a mistake on trailer size. It is a 24RBD. I says LIC 3500 on the top of the cover 3500.

Thanks for the info. I wasn't able to track down what model jack came mounted on this trailer from the factory. If you happen to have any close up pictures of the jack you could email them to me directly and I can try to make sure these replacement parts aren't available. I have a 2004 National RV (RAGE'N ) toy hauler 21-24 I believe the trailer dry weight is between 5500 lbs - 6000 lbs. My question is, what weight capacity would I need to upgrade from a manual jack to an electric jack? Also carry a 4 seater 2015 RZR that weights about 1594 lbs dry

The jack only needs to be able to support the trailer's tongue weight (which should be 10 to 15 percent of its total weight), but getting something with a healthy safety margin will lead to faster operation and even a longer lifespan, since it's not being pushed to its limits. You're looking at a loaded tongue weight of around 750 to 1,120 pounds, so something like the etrailer # EJ-3520-BBX (with a 3,500 pound capacity) will work really well.
