Comparing Curt And Draw-Tite Trailer Hitches For A 2022 Subaru Impreza
Question:
I have a 2022 Subaru Impreza hatchback. Looking for a Class 1 or 2 hitch to primarily be used for a bike rack. I was wondering which of the following two hitches would be better: Draw- trailer hitch or the Curt trailer hitch? My primary concern is ground clearance in the back. Which one will sit closer to my car? They will both accept a 1.25 bike rack correct?

Hey Jamie,
I do typically prefer Curt's quality over Draw-Tite, however Curt only has a class I hitch # C11465 whereas Draw-Tite has a class II hitch # 36644 that's going to have an increased capacity for the same cost as the Curt hitch. This would have a 3,500lb gross towing capacity (GTW) and 350lb tongue weight (TW) capacity instead of just a 2,000lb GTW and 200lb TW capacity. You'll still need to check your Impreza's towing capacity to ensure you're not exceeding what it can handle though in the event that you do end up towing a trailer.
The # 36644 has a 1-1/4" receiver tube opening so it would accept your bike rack's shank. If you want to add lights to a bike rack or cargo carrier then you'll also want the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118744 as well.

I believe my towing capacity for my Subaru Impreza 5 door wagon is 1,260 pounds (570 kg). Would the Curt trailer hitch be the best?
