Is There A Slider Hitch That Can Attach To A Gooseneck Ball - Are There Other Options?
Question:
Greetings, I currently have a 2017 Ram 2500 6.4 liter Hemi that has a Uni-Goose Gooseneck ball hitch in the bed. This hitch does not have a release under the rear wheel. The release to pull the ball out is part of the sleeve, if you will, where the ball is recessed. You lift the ring around the goose ball and that action unlocks the hitch and you can remove it and replace a cap when not in use. I hope all that makes sense. I have done some research and have discovered that the Anderson Hitch is compatible part 3220. Additionally, Demco has a hitch part 8550052 that is compatible. The problem is neither of these hitches allows for the sliding option that will increase clearance and turn radius. Are you aware of any 5th wheel hitch that would be compatible with my exiting Uni-Goose hitch that will also have the sliding option?

Thanks for reaching out, Matthew. Your description of the gooseneck ball does make sense. I cannot say I am familiar with the Una-Goose brand though, but I am familiar with the different gooseneck balls and their release mechanisms.
The Demco 8550052 you mentioned is a slider hitch made for industry standard rails, so this is not an option for you. We do have the Demco Recon # DM8550045 which will attach to the gooseneck ball, but as you said, this does not have a sliding option. There are not any slider hitches that will attach to the Una-Goose ball.
I do have one option for you though, and that is the Convert-A-Ball Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter # CAB-C5GX1216. This adapter will attach your 5th wheel kingpin to the gooseneck ball and it gives you 7-1/2" of offset. So, not as much additional clearance as a slider, but more clearance than a fixed hitch.
Aside from that, the only other solution I can offer is to remove the Una-Goose hitch entirely and replace it with a B&W Turnoverball hitch, part # BWGNRK1384. This will allow you to use the B&W Companion Slider # BWRVK3400-5W. I know this setup is pricey, but it truly is the best way to connect a slider to a gooseneck hitch.
Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions for me.
