Is There a Plug In Adapter for a Brake Controller for a 2024 Ford Ranger

Question:

I searched your website for a trailer brake controller for a 2024 Ford Ranger. The search results is a Tekonsha Prodigy P3. The photos show loose wires no plug from a 2021 Ranger. On your webpage, those wires get butt-joined and heat shrunk to the loose wires no plug coming from the controller. I believe my 2024s trucks wires are combined in a plug. So I need a plug attached to the controllers wires to mate to the trucks plug. Could e-trailer show an actual 2024 Ranger installation, instead of photos from a possibly irrelevant 2021? Thank you! Norm

Norm, I checked with Tekonsha and they actually don't make a plug in adapter for your 2024 Ford Ranger unfortunately. It looks like they ran the wires to a large wire harness that goes through the driver's side firewall, left of the brake pedal, with shrink tubing on the ends.

You'd just need to splice those wires with the wires coming off of the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195. As far as install photos go, we haven't had one in to get pictures of so we don't have anything yet.

Hi Bryce, Thank you, but you're relying on outdated info. There are no separate wires with heatshrink tubing on my truck to which the wires from the trailer brake connector can be attached. I looked at Ranger & Explorer forums, & posts there showed where to look & what to look for. I finally found that my 2024 Ford Ranger XL w towing pkg has a wired PBT-GF15 connector zip-tied to a wire cable loom near the firewall about 4 inches forward of the white OBD (code reader) plug. The half of the PBT-GF15 connector that is not wired detaches from the half that is wired and can receive the four bare wire from the Tekonsha Prodigy P3. Or, I believe a customer could order e-trailer's part TK99UR, which is a Tekonsha Prodigy P3 with a PBT-GF15 connector wired to it. That would then plug into the truck's PBT-GF15 wired other half. I've sent Tori at e-trailers a photo of the plug half I disconnected from my truck this morning.

@Norm I replied to an "expert" response from Bryce a couple of months ago, & 2 days ago I received an email notification that expert Chad had responded, with a link to Etrailer's website. There was no response by Chad that I could find on the linked website.
