Recommended Easy-To-Install Trailer Hitch for 2014 Kia Sorento LX
Question:
Hi Whos 2inch Trailer Hitch for a 2014 KIA Sorento LX 2.4 is the 1. lightest? 2. Offers the best spare tire access? 3. Requires absolutely no panel cutting or modification removing and leaving a panel off is ok? , 4. Looks the best and protrudes out enough from the rear bumper but not obtrusively so I do not have to add an extension if I were to use a cargo basket?. Thanks

There are 5 different hitches that are a fit for your Sorento, 3 class II and 2 class III. Whenever the choice is available, I recommend going with a Class III, because there's a much better selection of hitch mounted accessories like bike racks and cargo carriers available. The Class II hitches would be about 10 lbs or so lighter, but your selection of accessories would be limited.
The two Class III hitches are the Curt # C13152 and the Draw-Tite # 75772. Both hitches weigh right at 35 lbs or so, and would not impede access to the spare tire. The Curt hitch requires temporarily removing an under body panel, but they are replaced after the installation is complete. The Hidden Hitch model would require trimming the panel (or just leaving it off). The Curt hitch would be slightly easier to install.
When installed, both hitches will look pretty much the same from the rear. Both hitches have the receiver opening recessed enough under the vehicle so they won't cause injury when you're walking by but they are close enough to the edge of the bumper that just about any cargo carrier could be used.
Given the parameters you mentioned, the Curt Class III, part # C13152 would do the best job of meeting your needs. I'll link you to the installation instructions and an install video showing the hitch being installed on your vehicle.
If you'll be towing, you'll also need the following:
Trailer Wiring Harness with 4-pole trailer connector, part # 118583
Ball Mount, part # C45010
2 Inch Trailer Ball, part # 63845
1-7/8 Inch Trailer Ball, part # 19260
You'll want to make sure the weight of your trailer doesn't exceed the capacity of the vehicle or the hitch.
