Troubleshooting 7-Way of 2022 Chevy Silverado that Shows No Voltage at Connector

Question:

Hello. I have a 22 Silverado Duramax 2500 HD I have a brand new, seven way connector whip coming out of the 7 pin connector that goes to the trailer. I was testing the wires to make sure everything was working. I am getting power out of the big black wire and the red but nothing else works. The signal lights are not blinking. The running lights are not working. I tested with a test light and a multimeter. I went up to the hood and checked all the trailer fuses with a test light. I am not getting. any power to any of the fuses on either side of the fuse under the hood. I am seeing there are service bulletins about the trailer control module. Is there a way to test that? I have an appointment at the dealership but it’s a week away. I’m trying to find the problem before then. Thank you very much Paul Castle.

Hey Paul, try connecting to a trailer and seeing if the lights work like they should. A lot of modern trucks require a trailer connection to be sensed before the trailer wiring circuits are completely active.

@RondalC See if you can test the wires on the back side of the 7-way for the signal there as well. You should hopefully find it there and that would indicate the problem is the 7-way. Most likely corrosion on the pins or bent pins that prevent contact.
