Why Does Furrion Vision S Camera Kit Require Adapter for Newer Chevy Truck

Question:

For the FOS43TASF camera, in your video you state that there could be an issue with my 2024 Chevrolet 2500HD custom. Could you explain more and what I’ll need extra? I have a 7 plug on my truck, so confused!

For the newer GM trucks like your 2024 Chevy Silverado 2500 you do need to use the Furrion GM adapter part # FR87PR with the Furrion Observation Vision S systems like the part # FOS43TASF that you referenced. This is the adapter that the video you mentioned was referencing.

The reason is that the running light circuit of your trailer wiring is what powers the camera but GM doesn't have enough power on the running light circuit to power the camera. So this adapter helps draw power from the 12 volt accessory circuit as well to solve this problem.

I have a 3024 chevy 2500 ltz and I purchased the adapter for the furrion camera. I've used it twice on longer trips and both time my tire monitoring system the truck itself has gone haywire. With in 10 miles of disconnect the trailer and adapter the truck tire monitoring system goes back to normal. Have you heard of this issue before?

@HenryM Wow, no we have not heard of this problem at all. Can you be more specific on what the TPMS is doing when it's connected?

@JamesonC the TPMS display stops reading the tire pressures I will start with one tire then another till they all stop reading. I doesn't do it right away either it starts after a few hours of travel while it's hooked up. Once disconnect and I travel for at lease 10 miles it will go back to normal. I brought the truck into the dealership to have the tpms system checked and of course it checks out ok lol

@HenryM Wow that is truly bizarre. You'd think there would be more cases of this problem with that adapter but it escapes me how basically just a few circuits would somehow cause a wireless signal drop out.
