Recommended Roof Rack For a 2024 Subaru Outback Wilderness With Factory Roof Rails

What Roof Rack do you recommend for my 2024 Subaru Outback Wilderness?

I recommend the Thule WingBar Evo roof rack for your 2024 Subaru Outback Wilderness. For this you will need the Crossbars # TH711320 and Feet # TH710401. I prefer this system as the crossbars use a 2-piece channel seal which allows you to easily add channel mounted accessories without having to pull out or trim the single piece seals.

The Thule One-Key System Lock Cylinders # TH450800 will provide you with 8 keyed alike lock cores. Four of these will be used to secure the roof rack to your roof rails while the other 4 can be used with other Thule accessories so all your locks use the same key.

I also have a 2024 Outback Wilderness and appreciate the recommendation of the Thule WingBar Evo roof rack. My question is in regards to the stated weight capacity for the crossbars at 220 pounds. Is this a static or dynamic capacity rating? I am looking to carry a Roofnest Condor 2 rooftop tent which weighs in at 155 pounds but once adding people and gear will exceed the stated weight capacity for the crossbars while sleeping in the tent. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

@Rick The 220lb capacity for the crossbars is their dynamic capacity.

Are longer cross bars allowed by Thule? I see Malone has 58” bars. I am debating between Malone, Thule and Curt.

@LisaB Thule crossbars do not have full length channels on the bottom for connecting to their legs so you are limited to the length of bars you can use.

Hi- I purchased a new 2024 Outback wilderness and need advice on an assist system for a double kayak (17') . Given your advice on the roof rack I'll be purchasing that. I'm considering the Hullavator? Will it work?

@JoanneM The Thule Hullavator # TH898 is my favorite kayak carrier and a great choice since you can strap the kayak to the rack where it can easily be reached, and then lifted into position. Since you are looking to use 2 of these you will want to go with the longer 53" Crossbars # TH711420 with the Feet # TH710401 to ensure you have enough clearance on both sides of your Outback.

@BudM thank you! I have one tandem kayak so 50" crossbars will work...right? and did I read the max wt for the Hullavator is 75lbs?

@Joanne Sorry, I misunderstood the kayak to be two instead of tandem. So yes you will be able to use the 50" crossbar. And yes, the weight capacity on the Thule Hullavator is 75lbs.
