Where to Find The Axle Serial Number On Dexter Axles Manufactured After April 2001?

Question:

Where would an ID be located on a Dexter Axle

On Dexter axles manufactured after April 2001 you will be able to find the serial number stamped on the rear portion of the axle tube approximately 18" from the passenger side hub. Depending on the condition of the axle you may need some chalk to better see the numbers on the tube. You may also find a sticker on the center of the rear portion of the tube. If this is still attached and legible you will need to find the SN# on the tag. With this information we can determine exactly what parts were installed on your axle from the factory to verify any replacement parts you may need.

If you have an older axle you will need to measure the parts or find any identifying numbers stamped on the parts such as the brake assembly to verify a correct replacement.

I’m trying to determine what axle I would need to replace an existing Dexter 3500 lb axle on my trailer. The existing axle’s serial number is: 602582401010 Thanks!

@MattW Thank you for that information. The only option we have is a Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension # A35RS545E due to the dimensions for your axle. With having an 85" hub face measurement we do not have a matching size. You would need to either adopt a system like the Timbren above or have your axle reproduced by Dexter. If you wish to have a new axle made by Dexter you would need to visit a local trailer shop who can special order your same axle from Dexter.

I need to replace my axle as the spindle got damaged during bearing failure. I don't need the brake parts only the axle - I have a 7000# Dexter axle - S/N is 132154692, Dexter # 5548306 I am looking to replace this axel in next 10 days - so if not available from Dexter can you cross to another brand. @BillB Hey Bill. I've got two Dexter 7,000 lbs axles that could work for your trailer. Our other manufacturer options have the same dimensions. One has a 94" hub face to hub face measurement and the other has a 95" hub face to hub face. I wasn't able to get anything off of those numbers and Dexter's closed on the weekends. I have listed the two axles below: 94" - Dexter Trailer Axle Beam with E-Z Lube Spindles item # 8327864 - 79" Spring Seats 95" - Dexter Trailer Axle Beam with E-Z Lube Spindles item # 8327834 - 80" Spring Seats If your spring seats are in a different location you can remove the ones on the new axle and install two of the item # TRSS300 to work with your set up.

@JerredH This morning I got a better look at the axle tag which says HF = 92.50 / SC = 74.50 I am assuming HF stands for Hub Face

@BillB It does indeed. Thanks for those extra dimensions. We do not have a 7k axle or a higher rated one that's going to work with a 92-1/2" hub face though.
