Recommended Replacement For A Carrier Air V Model # 68RV15102A RV AC Unit

Question:

I currently have a carrier air V. Model: 68RV15102A 15,000 BTU. Which Atwood unit would you recommend to replace it with? I’ve already looked at the advent. I like the quietness of the Atwood.

At this time we no longer offer the Atwood line of AC units so the only available options would be from Furrion or Advent Air. If you're just wanting to replace the rooftop unit and maintain use of your air distribution box and thermostat controller then you can choose between the Furrion Chill HE Replacement RV Air Conditioner Unit # FR58PR (along with an adapter # ACCARKIT) or the Advent Air Replacement RV Air Conditioner for Carrier Setup # ACCAR150.

Of the two I personally prefer the Furrion units because Furrion is backed by Lippert and tends to offer better support whenever a question arises. Furrion units have an 80 decibel noise level so they'll be slightly louder than the Advent units 76 decibel level, but these Furrion units are a bit more advanced and perform more efficiently than the Advent units.

If you're wanting to replace the entire system then I recommend the Furrion Chill HE RV Air Conditioner System # FR92PR if you'd prefer the controls on the air distribution box or part # FR55PV if you'd prefer a wall mounted thermostat.

So, looking to replace my Carrier 68rv15102a also have this carrier Number 68rv0010ka. Want an exact replacement or plug and play. Can you point me in the right direction which unit to go with and my camper does have ducts as well. And do you have a wireless thermostat as well?

@HectorM If you're wanting to replace the entire system then you'll want to go with the Furrion Chill HE RV Air Conditioner System # FR55PV or the # FR92PR if you wanted the controls built into the air distribution box. We don't currently offer an option with a wireless thermostat. If you're only wanting to replace the rooftop unit then you can go with the Advent Air Replacement RV Air Conditioner for Carrier Setup # ASA38YR, which would come with a wire harness adapter to plug right into your Carrier controller.

I have a Carrier air V 68rv15102a that I need to replace. What do you suggest. I can replace the top unit or both units. One question is the furnace goes through the remote on my current unit. Thanks,Ben

@BenW If you're wanting to save money then you can typically replace just the rooftop unit, but with everything being so old it's honestly going to be better to replace the entire system to avoid any communication errors. If you'd prefer to to have the controls built into the air distribution box then I recommend the Furrion Chill HE RV Air Conditioner System # FR92PR or part # FR55PV if you'd prefer a wall mounted thermostat. If you want to just replace the rooftop unit you can use the Furrion # FR58PR along with their carrier adapter # ACCARKIT. The furnace would still be wired to the controller of the new system so you'd be able to control it using either the wall mounted thermostat or built-in control knobs depending on the model you choose.

@KevinC I am trying to find the best replacement for my Carrier Air V and have read many articles on your site over the past several years. From my research, I have decided I want a Furrion, but I am confused by all the different models presented. I want the easiest direct replacement and would rather avoid having to run the thermostat physical wire, as it appears I might have to do. In this article, you mention 3 of 4 models that you all say will replace my system. I am confused by the different models and cost differences but even more confused that you recommend an Advent wiring adapter for the Furrion unit... My Carrier is the Model: 68RV14113A; Part: 99-00468-33. The system is ducted and the unit controls my furnace, which I certainly need the replacement to do as well... Any direction would be greatly appreciated, Florida is warming up by the day!! Thanks, Robbie
