Why Is Water Leaking From The Drain Tube Of A Furrion Tankless Water Heater

Question:

Why is it leaking through the drain tube?

If you have water continuously leaking from the drain tube of your Furrion RV Tankless Water Heater # FR93FR then it would either indicate that the water pressure is too high and the pressure relief valve is doing its job or that the pressure relief valve is faulty and would need replacement. You can adjust the pressure by using a regulator like part # A01-1124VP. If the pressure is fine and it continues to leak then the pressure relief valve is going to need to be replaced and you'll want to reach out to Furrion for a replacement.

My Furriin tankless hot water heater is leaking water out of the plastic tube. We also started getting an E1 error but only when hot water in bathroom sink is turned on. I set the water regulator at 45 them 50 then 60 to test it. Now we get an e1 error anytime I turn the hot water on. I blew out the hose and the rest of the hot water heater. Help! Karen Page

@KarenP An E1 error would indicate that the system tried to kick on but is having an issue igniting. The flame should be a blueish color if there's proper combustion. There could also be a bit of soot on the ignitor causing issues that could just need a wipe. The plastic tube is connected to the pressure/temperature relief valve so it would be normal for water to be expelled from it if the either the pressure was too high or the temperature was too high. If it's not that could be a sign that the valve is faulty and needs to be replaced. I would check out the routine maintenance section of your owner's manual. There's also a filter that's below that safety relief valve that's mentioned in there that you'll want to be regularly cleaning out to keep your unit in working order. Let me know what you find and we can keep troubleshooting.

@KevinC Can you send me a picture of the pressure relief valve. I do not have my manual. I cleaned a filter that was on the front is that the one you are talking about. I discovered there was water on the inside of heater. Sucked that out and turned a fan on it for about 24 hrs and turned everything back on and it worked. Thank you

Thank you Kevin for your help. Now I have another issue with Furriin my hot water heater It will only heat to between 104 and 108 degrees. The longer it runs the cooler it gets. I do not get any error message Do I need to de calisphy it. I have flushed it, cleaned the filter and checked the pressure. Thank you.

@KarenP It definitely wouldn't hurt to decalcify the unit, especially if your in an area with hard water. This kind of behavior is typically caused by mineral deposits, low propane pressure, or a faulty heating element. Since you're not getting an error code mineral deposits are the most likely cause. Furrion's instructions will have you run vinegar through the unit to decalcify it. They have a video on how to do this so I'd search for it for an easy walk through on how to do it. Once we get above freezing here and I can run water through an RV I can make a video showing how to do this as well. Let me know if that solves the issue and if not we can keep troubleshooting.
