Replacement Brake And Hub/Drum Assembly For Car Trailer With Kelsey Hayes Axles and 10 x 2.25 Brakes

Question:

I was hoping for a recommendation on brakes, bearings, and seals for my flat deck car trailer. They are electric drum brakes, 10x2.25, and seem to be older Kelsey Hayes axles / brakes, as the sticker on the axle reads Kelsey Axle and Brake Division, Chino CA. Hopefully that is enough info, as this trailer is pretty new to me and I am not exactly a wizard with them in the first place! Thank you

I am going to recommend disassembling one of your hubs to verify these parts are going to be correct for your Kelsey/Hayes axle. It sounds like you are going to have a 3,500lb axle which have all used a fairly standard size brake and hub. The Electric Trailer Brake Kit # AKEBRK-35-SA is an upgrade over the Standard Brakes # AKEBRK-35 as they will adjust as they wear to maintain better braking characteristics and feel. These are the same 10"x2.25" size and attach with 4 mounting bolts spread 2-7/8" on center vertically and horizontally.

For the Hub/Drum # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K this has a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern and uses a Inner Bearing # L68149(1.378"ID), Outer Bearing # L44649(1.063"ID), and Grease Seal # 58846(1.719"ID). If you can confirm your hub uses the same bearing numbers or has these same dimensions this is the correct hub for you. If your wheels use a different bolt pattern or you have a different measurement please let me know and I can let you know if we have a compatible hub.
