Is Dielectric Grease Good For Protecting My 4-Pin Trailer Connector?
Question:
Hi there! I would love some advice on what is the best way to protect a 4 pin trailer plug when not in use. I read that dielectric grease may be used. If thats the case, how should I apply it on and how much of it? Would I need to clean it off prior to use? This is the first time I have owned a hitch with wiring and I would love to take good care of it. Thank you very for your time!

Yes, dielectric grease like the Dielectric Grease for Electrical Connectors # 11755 can and should absolutely be used on electrical connectors like your 4-pin trailer connector.
Dielectric grease does a great job of protecting your equipment from corrosion caused by water damage, which is the most common cause of corrosion.
To apply this to your connector, you'll just need to apply a healthy amount to your connector, re-applying periodically.
You can also use the Curt Trailer and Vehicle 4-Pole Flat Cover Set # C58761 as well which will keep your 4-way covered when not in use to further add protection.
I've attached a video where one of our techs will run you through how you should apply this grease to your connector for you to check out as well.
