Correct Way To Mount Yakima DeepSpace 10 Rooftop Cargo Box

Question:

Looks like the DeepSpace 10 is designed to mount longitudinally as with a traditional roofbox. We need to mount the unit across the vehicle rather than lengthwise. The underside of the box appears to have recesses that would accommodate two very narrowly-spaced crossbars, but attaching the box to them would have to be improvised. The alternative is to mount a pair of short crossbar pieces at 90 deg to the existing crossbars and mount the box to those. Is there a clean way to do this? Suggestions?

The Yakima DeepSpace 10 Rooftop Cargo Box part # Y65RR must be mounted longways as this is the only way for the mounting clamps to grab onto the rail. The only time it can be mounted lengthwise is when used on the hitch as the Yakima EXO Swing Away Enclosed Cargo Carrier part # Y62VR.

I cannot advise on any alternative mounting options or solutions for this box.
