How Do Weight Distribution Systems Typically Install

Question:

I recently bought a 07 23ft coachman the guy gave me also a sway bar and springs bars he said, they go under the hitch and mount on the frame, i guess which the weight of the trailer rests on the axles of the trailer not on the truck as much.. my question is, is you hook the trailer to the truck do you lower the trailer or first put on the spring bars and chains on then lower the trailer? should there be alot of tenion?

Sounds like you got a weight distribution system with a sway control system with your 2007 23 ft Coachman trailer. What these systems do is distribute some of the trailer weight up onto the front axle of the tow vehicle.

Usually when you use a weight distribution system you want to lower the trailer onto the ball and then latch it to the ball. Then using the trailer jack you want to raise the trailer up to allow the spring bars to be installed. Once the trailer is lowered there will be tension in the bars.
