Troubleshooting A Slide-Out Motor That Isn't Turning The Slide-Out Actuator

Question:

Had the issue of our slide on our Keystone Arcadia 3660RL not opening after getting positioned and leveled. Made the attached video for your inspection and your insight? This item LC295380 was purchased from E-Trailer.com about 4+ months ago. With the hiring of a RV mobile tech here in Bellingham Wa. Were able to get the slide open with some adjustments to the accurater bracket. In short we can take the slide out and back in but then not back our with out having to make the adjustment. Can you tell me from the attached video if the motor is bad and needs replaced? Thanks,

Based on the noise I'm hearing from your video it sounds like your gears may be stripped out. If the # LC295380 wasn't working you wouldn't hear the knocking that you're getting or see the shaft turn.

First, I recommend removing the motor and then removing the base cover (pictured below). There are gears inside that turn to activate the shaft that connects to the actuator. You'll also want to check the shear pin, which slides through the shaft to turn the actuator. If it's damaged that could be why you motor is only partially working. Since you stated that you have to make adjustments to the actuator it leads me to believe this is the case.

If not, the next step would be to check the actuator. It has gears as well that could be chewed up and need replacement.

Let me know what you find and we can keep troubleshooting if the cause isn't found.
