Trailer Hitch Receiver For a 2016 Honda Fit For Carrying a Dirt Bike
Question:
Hello. I am trying to figure out a safe way to transport a dirtbike that is around 185 lbs with a hitch mount connected to my 2016 Honda Fit. I found this part and then through further searching on the site I found the etrailer Motorcycle Carrier w/ Ramp for 2inch Hitch - 76inch Long - Steel - 500 lbs - e98873. Is it possible to connect that carrier with this hitch on my honda and safely transport a bike that is 185lbs? I know the weight cannot surpass 300, and I am trying to figure out the right way to do this safely. If the carrier I found is not right, is there a lighter carrier that will work with this custom Honda hitch? Thank you.

With the etrailer Motorcycle Carrier # e98873 weighing 58lbs and your dirt bike at 185lbs you are below the 300lbs of maximum tongue weight the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7273 is capable of supporting. You will need to verify if Honda has a specific tongue weight rating for your 2016 Fit and ensure you do not exceed the maximum weight capacity for your Fit with any additional passengers and gear you may also have.
We do have the Ultra-Fab Dirt Bike Carrier # UF48-979033 that is 5lbs lighter to help save you a bit of weight.
The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C56395 will allow you to add Auxiliary Lights # C53201. The lights will likely be needed as the tail lights on your fit will be blocked by the dirt bike.
