Troubleshooting Check Wire Trailer Brake Disconnected Warning on 2021 Ram 1500

Question:

2021 ram 1500 factory trailer brake. Pulling a trailer i get check wire, trailer brake disssconnected warnings on dash. Usually only while turning tho. Replaced cord on front of trailer and also tried another truck same issue. Checked connection at fron of trailer and found nothing loose or in bad shape. Lights stay on while this happens only the brakes go out any ideas? Thank you

Since you had the error on your 2021 Ram 1500 and another truck it is probably safe to say the issue is on your trailer. Based on the information you have provided, I would start by double checking your ground connections. Make sure they are secure on a clean, bare-metal surface.

If that does not solve the issue, I would check the brake output wire. More than likely you have a short in the wiring or a loose wire and that is what causes the error when you turn. If you need to replace the wire you can use # 10-1-1.
