Availability of Hitch Extender for Andersen Weight Distribution Hitch
Question:
Hi, I have a 2020 Ram 1500 4x4 with v8 and Im looking to get a hitch extender setup so I can leave my tailgate down and still pull my 2020 Kodiak CUB 198BH travel trailer behind me. The trailer has a hitch weight of 460lbs. I currently use an Anderson Weight Distribution Hitch. Do you carry anything that would work for this? Will this work with the Andersen WD hitch? Thanks

We have a few options for an extender that you can use with weight distribution. Depending on the length you need there is the Brophy Hitch Extender For 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver 14" Long # HE12 and Reese Hitch Extender for 2" Trailer Hitches - 18" Long # ST18. The only problem with these is that they will reduce the capacity of your hitch.
The Brophy # HE12 has a maximum gross trailer weight of 7,000 lbs and tongue weight of 700 lbs when used with weight distribution. It will also reduce the overall capacity of your hitch by 1/3. The Brophy # ST18 has a max gross trailer weight of 6,500 lbs and tongue weight of 650 lbs when used with weight distribution. This extension will reduce the capacity of your hitch by one-third. For both of these your trailer hitch will be the limiting factor.
You had the right idea with an extended shank like the # EQ90-02-4600 which wouldn't reduce the hitch capacity. Unfortunately, this and other shanks will not work with the Andersen you have due to the way that it mounts.
I have attached some review videos for your reference.
