Brake Switch Location to Install a Brake Controller on a 2004 International 4300
Question:
where is the brake light switch located on 2004 international 4300

Expert Reply:
If your 2004 international 4300 has air brakes, then the brake switch (electrical) could be anywhere. But if it has regular hydraulic brakes then the switch should be located above the brake pedal. You would use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to probe the wires and connect to the one that only shows power when the brake pedal is pressed and not when the headlights or turn signals are on.
If the truck does have air brakes, then you would need to tap into a dedicated brake light only circuit elsewhere. There should be a stoplight or CHMSL fuse in the fuse box. Use the owner's manual or legend on the lid to locate it. Then use a fuse tap to tap the circuit for the brake controller.
