What Bike Rack do You Recommend for My 100-Pound Electric Bike on My 2020 Toyota 4Runner?
Question:
Hello, I bought an electric bicycle that weights a total of 113 lbs. WITH battery and about 100 lbs. WITHOUT battery. Which bike rack would you suggest for me? I am interested in a single carry rack, if possible. Thank you.

I have a great solution for you to transport your bike. Unfortunately, there are no hitch-mounted racks (single-bike or multiple bikes) that are designed for bikes that will accommodate 100 pounds (battery removed). The best bet is to use a motorcycle or dirt bike carrier.
For that route, I recommend the Ultra-Fab Dirt Bike Carrier for 2" Hitches - With Ramp - 77" Long # UF48-979033. With the Ultra-Fab, you have a maximum weight capacity of 500 pounds which is plenty to accommodate your e-bike. As far as loading your bike onto the Ultra-Fab, the carrier comes with a ramp that can be mounted on either side of the carrier for easy mounting. If you need ratcheting straps to hold the bike in place, I recommend the ShockStrap Ratchet Tie-Down Straps w Shock Absorbers - 2" x 9' - 2,000 lbs # 297-9RSDB. For a locking hitch pin for extra security, the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 2" Hitch - Flush - 2-5/8" Span # e98882 will work perfectly.
From a past question you asked us, it looks like you have a 2020 Toyota 4Runner with a 2-inch hitch already installed. Since the Ultra-Fab measures 15-1/2 inches from the shank's pinhole to the closest part of the rack, you will not have any bumper clearance issues. I recommend confirming with your vehicle's owner's manual to make sure your vehicle and your hitch can accommodate the weight of the bike plus the 52 pounds of the Ultra-Fab.
If you are looking to mount the Ultra-Fab on a different vehicle, please respond with the year/make/model of that vehicle and I will be happy to confirm the bumper clearance for you.
