Comparing The Thule Outway And Saris SuperBones 3-Bike Carriers
Question:
Hi! I am driving a 2016 Toyota Corolla and is deciding between this rack and the Saris Superbones. I notice that there is an absence of an anti-sway strap in this model. I would like to ask if I were to carry only 1 or 2 bikes. Will there be a possibility of the bike swaying and hitting the car’s body without a strap to hold the bikes in place? It seems that the Superbones perform better in this aspect. Kindly advise. Thank you.

I recommend going with the Thule OutWay Trunk Bike Rack for 3 Bikes # TH56BV. This includes a spacer bar that goes between the bikes so that they do not make contact with each other. A strap is also included to prevent the wheels from hitting other bikes or your vehicle. The Saris SuperBones 3 Bike Rack - Trunk Mount SA802 is a very nice bike rack, but it does not come with a spacer bar to prevent bike-to-bike contact and it does not come with a strap to prevent the wheels from touching the other bikes or your vehicle.
Another benefit of the Thule Outway is that it allows you to open the rear hatch of your vehicle when no bikes are installed. The Saris SuperBones does not allow the rear hatch to be opened. Overall, I think the Thule Outway is a better option for you. Keep in mind, you may need to use an adapter bar such as # 64005 if you plan on transporting oddly shaped bikes like women's, children's, or step-thru bikes. I attached a couple demonstration videos for you.
