Aftermarket Magnaflow Catalytic Converter VS OEM Catalytic Converter
Question:
Does this converter have as much of the precious metals as the OEM?

Expert Reply:
Typically catalytic converter contains two or more ceramic substrates, coated with a combination of Platinum, Palladium and Rhodium and a Ceria based wash coat, packed into a stainless steel housing. There is a certain amount of precious metals that need to be in a catalytic converter to pass inspection.
That being said, there is still plenty of precious metals in aftermarket catalytic converters like the MagnaFlow Converter # MF49461 you're looking at. I do not know if it's more or less than the OEM but it is in fact full of the same material.
