Will SumoSprings Rebel Custom Helper Springs On 2016 GMC Sierra 2500 Allow Some Suspension Sag?

Question:

My truck currently has air bags and Im wondering about changing them out for Sumoto springs, or something similar. My fifth-wheel trailer has 1600 pounds of tongue weight and in order for my trailer to be level my truck suspension has to sag 2-1/2 inches. My truck has factory 20-inch wheels and the rear end sits higher than the front. Please provide your advice.

While I do not have the exact a measurement of the exact amount of sag you will get when attaching your 5th wheel trailer with 1600lbs pin weight to your 2016 GMC Sierra 2500, the SumoSprings # SSR-203-40-2 will allow some suspension sag before fully engaging.

This is due to the springs being progressive meaning the more they are compressed the stiffer they become. They do this that way the first bit of the spring is pretty soft so when you hit a bump with your truck unloaded it compresses and does not ruin the ride quality of your truck.

With all this said, you current air helper spring kit should allow you to get your truck to the exact height you are looking for by adjusting the air pressure, so if it were my truck I would keep the air helper spring kit as it give you a lot more adjustability.

I went ahead and included a video of the # SSR-203-40-2 for you to take a look at.
