Will Using Performance Chip Increase Fuel Economy of 2013 Ram 1500 w/ 5.7 Hemi
Question:
what will a chip do for fuel mileage on my 2013 dodge ram hemi

Expert Reply:
The Edge Evolution CTS3, part # EP99YR is indeed compatible with your 2013 Ram with the 5.7 Hemi engine, but be aware that it is NOT CARB approved, so it should not be installed on a vehicle registered in California.
A performance chip will tune the engine so that it runs more efficiently. An engine that is running more efficiently will provide modest increases in fuel economy (typically 1 to 1-1/2 mpg) IF the vehicle is driven conservatively. The # EP99YR offers the Mileage Coach program that will show you how your daily driving habits affect your fuel economy. By being aware of these habits, you can alter them and further improve your gas mileage.
For California registered vehicles that are under CARB regulation, your best bet would be the Superchips Flashpaq F5 # SU4845, which again, if the vehicle is driven conservatively would offer similar fuel economy increases as the Edge tuner mentioned above.
