2020 Ford F250 Tremor Gooseneck Capacity v 5th Wheel Hitch Capacity
Question:
Curb Weight 7,874.00 GVWR 10,800.00 GCVWR 30,000.00 Payload 2,776.00 Towing Capacity 15,000.00 Assuming 550 lb in passengers and 550 lb in cargo, hitch weight, and full fuel Based on above numbers it appears my safety limit on a 5th wheel hitch weight capacity tops out around 1600 lbs limiting what I can purchase in a size of a 5th wheel. I was wondering about the gooseneck adapter as this truck has higher gooseneck capacity. It would seem the same weight still hits the truck bed and I would not see any benefit. Does the gooseneck adapter allow these limits to increase enabling a larger 5th wheel camper to be towed or should I just stick to a smaller camper and go with a 5th wheel hitch?

Either way you go with a fifth wheel like the B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider part # BWRVK3270 and B&W Custom Installation Kit w/ Base Rails part # BWRVK2402 or gooseneck like the Curt Custom Underbed OEM-Style Gooseneck Trailer Hitch part # C60700 you will have to abide by the trucks weight limits.
You may be able to have a little more pin weight in the bed with the gooseneck if your truck is rated higher for that application but I would check the owner's manual for that info to be sure. I do tend to agree with you that pin weight is pin weight and they should be near the same.
If it is similar I prefer the Fifth Wheel option. This will help achieve the most turning clearance for you.
As far as camper weight goes you have around 1,600 lbs. available to use as you said and you want to have 10-15% pin weight for optimal hauling. With a 15,000 lb. towing capacity you should be able to get to the higher side of your range without exceeding the pin weight capacity you have available. If the gooseneck option does increase the truck's pin weight capacity that can be factored in and will allow you to get a slightly larger camper or a camper with a higher pin weight as long as your not exceeding the weight limits of your truck.
