Hanger Kit to Install Leaf Spring on Trailer that Has Slipper Springs
Question:
Hello, This is my first time replacing trailer springs. My trailer currently has slipper springs. Looking at pictures online, I thought it actually needed double eye springs because theres shackle bolts on both ends. I ended up ordering 23.5inch springs Item # SP-113275 but now Im second guessing myself. After researching a little more, its my understanding the hangers in the front of the trailer should be longer than hangers in the back to allow for shackles. The hangers are welded to the frame on my trailer and both are the same size, front and back. Ive attached a picture of the current setup. I have a few questions. Would it be an issue to use the double eye springs that I already ordered if I bought shackles? Im wondering if the trailer would sit too low in the back since the hangers are the same size. If this will work, what size shackles do you recommend? If you recommend slipper springs then Im not quite sure which size to order or if you have the size I need in stock. Ive read through the description of Item # SP-179275 but Im concerned they might not be long enough. The shackle bolts are 23.5inch apart, center to center, on my trailer. This spring is only 22 11/16inch from center of eye to center of the arch on the slipper end. The free arch is about 3.25inch on my current springs, although I understand the length and free arch of the springs can change with extended use as the springs flatten out. I appreciate any advice you can provide. My order # was 110016208, if that helps. Thank you, Bryce

You could pretty easily install the springs you have but you will need to use a single axle trailer hanger kit like part # APS4 as the bushing sizes and hangers you have now won't work with the spring you have part # SP-113275.
