Suspension Enhancement Helper Springs for 2004 Chevy Silverado 2500 With Suspension Lift
Question:
I have a 2004 Silverado 2500hd extended cab short box. 6.0 V8. I bought the truck with a suspension lift installed on it. The springs in the back are so soft that when I hook my new travel trailer to it the back end sags down really bad. Even with a weight distribution hitch. Can I install helper springs on my lofted truck? I’m not sure if it has add-a-leafs or replacement spring packs. It’s not a lift block though. Is there a way to tell the difference?

You can use helper springs on your 2004 Chevy Silverado 2500 with a suspension lift which will absolutely help with the sag and give you an overall better ride. I don't know of a way to tell if you have add-a-leaf or replacement springs, I do know the kit you can use, which is the RoadActive Suspension. The correct one will depend on if your '04 Silverado has the factory top overload springs or not:
- Without Top Overload Springs: RoadActive Suspension Custom Leaf Spring Enhancement Kit # RAS3611-HD
- With Top Overload Springs: RoadActive Suspension Custom Leaf Spring Enhancement Kit # RAS3611-CHD
The way these work, and why they are so effective, is that the force normally put on your Chevy's current leaf springs, either when carrying cargo or when making a tight turn, gets transferred to the RAS Enhancement Kit. So it won't sag because the RAS kit will take on the force of the added weight.
I have added links to installation instructions and a video review below for you to check out.
