Shorter Replacement for 235/85-16 Trailer Tire
Question:
Hello, I have a 44 foot enclosed trailer with LT235-85 R16 tire. Weight would be a max of 12,000 lbs, empty trailer weight is 7,000 lbs . I am looking for a little shorter tire if possible. What do you suggest ?

We do have trailer tires that are slightly shorter than your current LT (or light truck) tire which is size 235/85R16. Those tires, such as the Westlake ST235/85R16 Radial Trailer Tire # LHWL410 measure 31.7 inches in diameter when inflated. They have a 4,400 lb capacity, and I imagine your trailer is a tandem axle so we have an option that will work for you.
I recommend a ST235/80-16 trailer tire with a load range E rating. This will give you a tire that measures about an inch less in diameter than your current tires and have a 3,520 lb capacity, so four of them will be more than enough for a fully loaded 12,000 lb trailer.
Here are your options, which I'll put in order from the tires I most recommend on down. I will also link video reviews of these tires for you to check out.
