Comparing Malone J-Style Kayak Carriers
Question:
Can you help me understand the difference between the various Malone J-Racks? J-Pro, J-Pro2, J-Loader, and Downloader? Im guessing the J-Pro2 is just a newer version of the J-Pro? What about the other options?

You're correct the J-Pro2, part # MPG117MD, is a newer model of the J-Pro. The difference between the two is the J-Pro2 has more padding to protect the kayaks. Other than that and the color they're basically the same.
The DownLoader, part # MPG114MD, has the ramps and is compatible with the Telos XL, part # MPG351XL, which is the additional load assist available from Malone. The upright arms can be folded down when you're not using the carrier for better roof clearance in case you park your vehicle in a garage or under anything. Out of all of them this is my top choice because of the folding feature. It's a definite advantage over leaving the carrier sticking up or removing it each time.
All four carriers fit round, square, and aero shaped crossbars. They can also fit into T-slots if you use the # MPG8287 hardware kit for aerobars or # MPG8287 for ladder racks.
