There are a few different size bolts used to attach a trailer hitch to your 2015 Chevrolet Equinox. In order to make sure you get the correct ones, I would need to know exactly what trailer hitch you have as some do use different lengths for this application. For example, if you have the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 76028 then you will need four 1/2-13x1.50 carriage bolts, four M12x1.75x2.0 hex head bolts, along with several other spacers/nuts/washers/fishwire etc. It might be a little difficult to obtain all of these extra parts at your local hardware store which is why I recommend that you use the Replacement Hardware Kit part # RHK to ensure you get all of the correct hardware needed for your specific trailer hitch.

The 12mm bolts that I received will not thread, they seem to be too big...?

@JeffW Try cleaning out the threads of the weld nuts on your vehicle frame. WD40 with a small wire brush can help or even a thread tap.

@JamesonC I'm not an idiot, of course I used PB blaster and a spiral wire brush of an appropriate size. I even threaded 10mm in and out to clear them, but of course they're too small. The 12mm still will not even begin to bite!

12mm will not thread, after spending 3 hours cleaning and attempting to thread them with no progress, I'm absolutely certain they're TOO LARGE! I suspect 11mm is more likely to be correct...!? Possibly even 10.9
