Exterior Lights Dont Work On a 2002 Coleman Taos Pop Up Camper After Sitting For Years
Question:
We have not used the camper in about 5 years, so the battery is dead. We have fixed it up to use, but when we hooked up the camper wiring to the tow vehicle, none of the outside lights parking and backup go on. Do I need a new battery to operate these lights?

The trailer battery has nothing to do with the exterior trailer lighting circuits. If you have an issue with your trailer lights which was caused from the trailer sitting then I would first start by tracing the wires for each light up to the trailer connector and then rechecking the grounds for each light as well. If they still do not work after then this your best option is to just rewire the trailer as the issue with intermittent function is only going to get worse over time. For this, you can use a combination of the Bonded 4 Wire part # 16-4B-1 and the Trailer Wiring 7-Way Upgrade Kit part # HS381-9000 as this would have everything that you need.
Please don't forget to check the fuses on the tow vehicle as well or the trailer connector pins for corrosion.
