Towing and Tongue Weight Capacity of 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon and Recommended Hitch
Question:
What is the max tongue weight of my 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon with 4.10 ratio? I have a camp trailer with 340 lb tongue weight-will I be ok towing trailer with 2600 lb dry weight?

I took a look at the owner's manual for a 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and found that all models of Rubicon had a 3,500 lb trailer towing capacity and 350 lb tongue weight capacity. So as long as when you fully load your camper it is no more than 3,500 lbs and has a 350 lb tongue weight you will be just fine.
To tow you are going to need a trailer hitch, a 4-way harness to power your trailer lights, ball mount and hitch ball.
The trailer hitch I strongly recommend for your 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon is the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # DT78MR because it offers you the best bumper clearance among hitches that fit your Jeep so you do not have to worry about finding a ball mount with an extra-long shank. It also gives you more options for use with accessories like bike racks or cargo carriers. I have added some photos of this hitch on a '17 Wrangler Unlimited so you can see what it will look like on your Jeep.
If you do not have the factory tow package and need a 4-way wiring harness the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118416 is the most reliable and simply requires you to plug in connections behind the tail lights. To add a brake controller you will need the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7 and I highly recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller # RED44FR for its responsiveness and the fact there is no bulky in-cab unit, just a knob you can mount in your Jeep where you see fit.
I have added links to video installs of both the hitch and connector on a 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited for you to check out, as well as a link to a video review of the Tow-Pro brake controller.
I also recommend checking out Ball Mount Kit # 989900, which is for 2” hitches and may fulfill your towing needs in one tidy package; two ball mounts - one with a 3/4” rise or 2” drop and the other with a 2-3/4” rise or 4” drop – along with a 1-7/8” hitch ball, a 2” hitch ball, and a pin and clip.
You can use the link to the help article on ball mounts I've added to determine if this kit will give you the correct amount of drop or rise.
