Best Snow Tire Chain Recommendation for 2018 Honda CR-V
Question:
So I have a new AWD CRV 2018 and live in the mountains of Colorado. My owners manual strongly recommends the following chain SCC Radial Chain TC2212MM. I want durable snow chains that are easy to put on. I have not been reading great reviews on the recommended chain. I have never had good experiences with chains. The reviews on your chains seem very good, but I dont want to hurt my new car or understand why Honda recommends this one chain.

In recent years we are starting to see more manufacturers recommend a specific tire chain for a vehicle instead of just saying one with low clearance requirements like what used to be the standard. So the TC2212MM that you referenced is essentially a standard snow cable chain setup that has a Class S compatibility. This means it works in low clearance applications but I would not describe any cable set as durable or easy to install.
So I have a bettery choice for your 2018 Honda CR-V. The Konig set part # TH01594247 that you referenced is easily your best option. This is the easiest to install set we offer for your vehicle. will give you great traction (which you'll need in mountains of CO), and will last a long time. These are made from Manganese-nickel alloy steel which is much more durable than most chain sets. These also fit both tires sizes available for your vehicle 235/65-17 and 235/60-18. Typically cables really are a one-time-use application.
The install video I attached shows these chains installed on a similar 2017 Honda CR-V.
