Wheel and Tire Compatibility with Toro Z4200 Riding Mower Rear Tires

Question:

I Have A TORO Z4200 Riding Mower,and and the rear Tire size is 18x7.50-8, if I go-up To A Rim size of 18x8.50-8, Will my new tires be WIDER across the face of the tire, I NEED better traction, I have A new yard to mow, and the ground is HILL, with some LOW spots. I need A tire with better traction. GOD BLESS you for your help ,and Im sorry that Im so DUM, again GOD BLESS you for your HELP

The 18x8.5 will give you a tire wider than your 7.50 tire. It will give you more tread because of the width so you will have better traction as well as a slightly wider mower as the tires will add 3/4 inch to the outside of each tire. You will want to make sure you have the internal clearance for the extra width of tire without making contact with the wheel well or frame.

The Kenda K389 Hole-N-1 Bias Golf Cart Tire - 18x8.50-8 # AM40537 is a great option for your riding lawn mower wheels. They are rated to be run at 22 psi. The tire will fit wheels that are 8x7 inches which are most likely what you already have.

We have a few combination options, so you may want to consider the wheel and tire in the Kenda K500 SuperTurf Tire with 8" White Wheel # AM89992 which has a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern or the Kenda 18x8.50-8 Bias Golf Cart Tire with 8" White Wheel # AM90002 with a 4 on 4 inch bolt pattern.

I wasn't able to track down the stock tire size for your Toro SS3225 Mower. If you can tell me what tire size is currently being used, I would be happy to verify if # AM40537 will work as a replacement or recommend a suitable alternative.

@David As long as you have clearance on the inside for an extra 3/4" then you should be just fine. Jason really answered the question best for you since you're going to be in the same situation as Dalton who asked the initial question.
