Thank you for the detailed information on your 2017 Jayco Octane SL 222. In order to make sure you are choosing the best weight distribution system, you will still need to calculate the total tongue weight which is composed of both the loaded ready to tow tongue weight of the trailer by any cargo stored behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. The easiest way to do this would be with a tongue weight scale like part # e99044.
The Fastway e2 Weight Distribution System that the dealer recommended is a good system. However, it pales in comparison to the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System. The Equal-i-zer system is regarded as one of the best on the market. The 4-point sway control will do a much better job of both reducing and preventing trailer sway compared to the 2-point sway control of the Fastway e2. I truly believe the marginal increase in price warrants the added benefits and features of the Equal-i-zer.
As long as the total tongue weight of your towing setup does not exceed 1,200 lbs, I recommend using part # EQ37120ET. It comes with everything you need including the hitch ball which is not included with the Fastway e2. I have attached a review/demonstration video on the Equal-i-zer as well.
